Not voter FRAUD, but voter SUPPRESSION.

Yes, or no?

We need to do two things in this country regarding voting
1- make it simpler and easier to vote like having same day registration and voting with at least two weeks to actually cast your vote
2- make sure that state secretaries of state do their job and purge voter rolls of those who have died

Anything that makes it difficult for a citizen to vote is indeed voter suppression. Just check with Mike Turzai of Pennsylvania.

Voter suppression has the potential to be a serious problem. But it could all be solved if ballots could be done through the mail like they are here in California. I haven't had to go to a polling place to vote in some 20 years because I get my ballot mailed to me. Lots of people say we should have a national holiday in order to vote, but we don't need that if we can all mail our ballots in by election day.

Sort of combining the two, I'd like to see names automatically purged if the person has not voted in x-number of years. Say, 5 years. This would take care of people who have died, who have moved, and so on. If we also did super-duper easy registration then I see no legit issues with that. A person could re-register when/if they were ready to vote again.

Umm, guys . . . I said specifically that I am not asking about voter FRAUD.

What passes for encouraging people to vote such as motor voter laws, same day registration, mail in ballots, and anonymous voting are in reality a way to support voter fraud.

How does someone suppress my vote? How does the most undemocratic Democrat prevent me from voting? Oh, wait, they might want to know if I'm a U.S. citizen, over the age of 17, a resident in the state, and whether or not I've been convicted of a felony that would disqualify me from voting. I have heard voting was suppressed because a police car was parked at a polling station. It turned out the police officer was voting. We also had some thugs in uniforms with club intimidating voters but the DOJ said that was okay. I'm curious as to how anyone would keep me from voting.

I live in a country, Mexico, with a long record of election fraud. They decided to clean up their elections. Interestingly, they're doing the opposite of what the Democrats in the U.S. want. For starters, they have a voter ID card with a photo. It's issued by the government and it's free. No card. No vote. I suppose the Democrats would march someone out who had lost his card and wasn't allowed to vote as an example of voter suppression but people in Mexico seem to support the effort to honest elections.

Then there is election day. It's on a Sunday. I have no idea why it's on a weekday but we do know which party caters to the unemployed.

Absentee ballots are rare and must be obtained for cause. Being out of the country is one reason or chronically bedridden another. But, Mexico is quite familiar with the rampant fraud involved in absentee voting.

The polling stations are in neighborhoods and the workers are selected much like juries are selected in the U.S. It's a random drawing of residents in the neighborhood. There are a lot of advantages to this. An adopted nephew was selected a few years ago and he went to a couple of training sessions to prepare him for his assignment. On the given day he shower up early in the morning, I think it was at eight o'clock and I think he went until eight o'clock at night. His mother brought him lunch and dinner. He knew all of the other workers and he, or one of the other workers, knew almost everyone who came in to vote. One elderly woman came in her easy chair which was being carried by her two son's and two neighbors.

In the U.S., all of the workers at a polling station can be, and sometimes are, just from one party. Is that handy, or what? In some states, thugs cannot go into nursing homes and coerce signatures on already completed absentee ballots. In other states, they can. They pretend they're "helping" the old people vote. Remember the old guy who, when asked who he voted for said proudly, "FDR. I always vote for FDR."

It is sad that we have one party that supports fraud with pride. But, so does Mexico. In Mexico it's called the PRI. That's the party that had absolute power for 76 years.

Major problem here in Florida.

Red districts just walk up and vote. My wait time is usually about 10 minutes.

Blue districts have waits as long as 7 hours. Sometimes extending well past the deadline.

If you vote Blue in a Blue district.... you have to REALLY REALLY want it.

If you're talking about intimidation at the polls, it sure isn't in my area. So I answered no. Probably in some areas it is, bit since I no longer trust the media to report accurately? I'll only call what I see with my own eyes.

If you're talking about intimidation at the polls

Yes, that's the major part of it, though suppression can take other forms.

The people voting "no" really offend me.
The reason why is because you can not possibly think it isn't a problem. You just say it is not a problem because you like the fact that it helps your side.

Well... being OK with it because it benefits you... is not the same thing as it not being a problem.
You people are dishonest and intellectually dishonest.
And I am ashamed to have to share air with you, not to mention a Country.

I might possibly believe that if the Republicans ran the elections in all districts with a majority of Democrats. Of course, they don't. That allegation fails on it's face.

I normally do NOT favor purging the rolls for simply not voting in a certain amount of years. However, the method you propose with registration on the day of voting would counter those objections and be acceptable to me.

There are states which have those things today. What verifiable evidence can you present to show that they are used in those same states to result in voter fraud?

Who distributes the voting resources in said states? For example, in Ohio, where the quoted scenario is very well known.. who distributes the voting machines and other resources... the GOP run state officials.

There is no voter suppression, just lazy voters.

That just sounds like it is begging for voter fraud to happen. Hows does the election board know if it is you who actually marked the ballot and sent it in? Do you sign your name on the ballots and the election takes your signature to hand writting experts to verify if the signature is authentic? Does the postman check your ID and watch you mark the ballot? No wonder why Commie-fornia is the land of fruits and nuts.

We're talking about voter suppression not fraud. We all know the Democrat skill at fraud.

Here's a comment from one of the Wikileak emails:
"John Podesta: I think Teddy’s idea scratches the itch, is pretty safe and uncomplicated.
On the picture ID, the one thing I have thought of in that space is that if you show up on Election Day with a drivers license with a picture, attest that you are a citizen, you have a right to vote in Federal elections."
WIKILEAKS: Podesta Says It's OK for Illegals to Vote With Driver's License....

Now, you want me to show you verifiable evidence that shows that foreign nationals registering to vote do in fact vote or someone else votes using their registration. How can anyone show that? But, when people design a system for the purpose of voter fraud, it's ridiculous to fail to assume that it is, in fact, being used for fraud.

I can remember when I had to register far enough ahead of the election that the county clerk's office had an opportunity to verify that I was a eligible voter. That was done away with, with same day voting. And why do you think the Democrats are demanding anonymous voting. I come in, say I'm Barack Obama, vote and leave, and someone says, "I don't think he was Barack Obama," what can you do. You have know idea who he was.

I just voted by absentee ballot. I could have included a xerox copy of my passport including the picture. I could have included my military serial number from 1962. I could have included a xerox copy of my Mexican visa that includes my picture. But, the only identifying information that I was asked to provide was the last four digits of my Social Security number. You know, the number that use to say, "Not for Identification Purposes." I am quite certain the the Democrat Party can have Social Security numbers for everyone is they want them.

The Democrats design a system for fraud and are shocked that people say there is fraud.

Yes and that was what I was talking about. When democratic leaning districts dont get enough voting machines, so the lines are miles long, vs Republican leaning districts that have next to no lines and plenty of machines.

I'm really skeptical of voter suppression claims. I think the only valid one pertains to the way in which Voter ID statutes have been implemented, but I think the impact has been overstated. Other than that I think a lot of the claims about voter suppression hinge on plain laziness on the part of voters. Whining about 'same day' registration seems silly. You had all year to register to vote and you claim suppression because 10 days before the election you suddenly realized you wanted to vote? Come on. I want an informed franchise, and I don't think making people register 30 days out from an election is all that egregious.

Your post has no evidence that voter fraud has occurred due to the things objected to.

And in LibWorld that means, "Yes, we're getting away with it." Congratulations.

These disingenuous arguments require anti-ID forces to ignore or shrug off tangible instances of genuine voter fraud. Here's the latest example via CBS 2 in Los Angeles:
(Watch the Video) or, if you're a Democrat don't. You'd hate to see evidence.

A comparison of records by David Goldstein, investigative reporter for CBS2/KCAL9, has revealed hundreds of so-called dead voters in Southern California, a vast majority of them in Los Angeles County.

Yes, it's a big problem. Every election since Bush has been an issue.

Malfunctioning voting machines, not enough machines per capita in a voting district, fake mailouts directing voters to the wrong areas, voter lists mysteriously going missing, voting booths closing while there are still huge lineups. The list goes on.

And the debacles always conveniently happen in areas with high Democratic turnout.

We should go back to paper ballot. The current system is corrupt as hell.

I have already stated my complete support for authorities getting rid of dead people on election rolls. Why was this not done?

Was there a crime declared by the authorities in charge of elections?

Was there a prosecution?

Was there a conviction?

Do you have both a numerator and a denominator?

How do you know this was not merely an error?
