That's appealing to the lowest possible standard, though. If the current atmosphere is disproportionately weighted toward feeling over fact, then I believe the moderator should attempt to exert a form of counter balance to this if the truth and journalistic standards in general are important to him.

They're marketing towards an audience and will act in accordance.
Remember, they have to sell advertising.

You're assuming that a change in the business structure of the media automatically implies a change in individual journalists' standards. I see no reason to agree with that assumption.

Everyone assumes media bias, yes it exists but it's less to do with ideology and more to do with the customers ideology.
When someone is fair, Matt Lauer for instance, he has been perceived to be going soft.

Another poll I can not participate because I am #Never Trump, #Never Hillary.
I couldn't support either one of those scoundrels.
It's a crying ass shame the electorate is so damn ignorant to produce such choices. But here we are.......

I know one will emerge the winner in this race but the loser will be the American people.

But I also have hope out of this election a new party will emerge. A party not part of the corrumption of the Democratic party and the Republican party. But one that's message will not be about greedy power but that of Constitutional first principles as the foundation for any law. A party that is not corrupted by special interests that doesn't believe the federal government should be in every aspect of our lives. That States need to take responsibility for their citizens and not run to the federal government for bailouts. A party that believes in the Rule of Law, and personal responsibility. A party that believes in individualism and free market capitalism. A party that honors individual liberties by not passing bad law that may help one while take the rights away of another.

The things I have not heard from either candidate are the importance of liberty and freedom. Instead they are both panderers to special interests.

Just today I learned Trump is whining over the moderators and wants a debate without moderators. First thing that came to mind is his debate preparation is not going well.

Look to see Trump cause a ruckus during the debate if he gets a question he doesn't want to answer. He will personally attack Clinton to throw off having to answer the question.
This is what he did throughout the primary debates. I hope the moderators do not let him get away with it.

Trump will show up to the first debate but after that he may will declare the moderators are in the tank for Hillary and most likely refuse to do anymore especially if he has a poor showing which I am sure he will. That's how Don the Con operates.

Clinton on the other hand hasn't got an easy task before her either especially with all her baggage she brings.

But don't be surprised just days before the debate that a huge derogatory story on Trump gets dumped just days before the debate that puts him in a hot seat.

I think there is a good chance Trump will do really well in the debates as long as the moderators don't fact-check. Here's why: We've already seen the media warming up to a potential President Trump. Matt Lauer, Dr. OZ, Jimmy Fallon. These three leaders in the industry all refused to go after Trump for PR Ratings. Matt Lauer in particular was the debate preview and he got chewed out by pretty much everybody for being too tough on Clinton and too weak on Trump's nonsense. If the media does not take a hyper-active approach to shutting him down, and so far they really haven't been doing this at all, anything short of that is a win for Trump. If Hillary Clinton coughs on stage, Trump wins the election, period.


There are way too many If's right now in the Clinton Campaign that's why she always was a horrible candidate.
IF Gary Johnson was on the stage it would be different because Trump doesn't do well in a three way fight. We saw that with the Cruz, Rubio and Trump fights at the debates in the primaries but that's not happening. Clinton is now the one on defense. If Trump does what he did in the early primary debates, he wins.

But trump has never been on the same stage with Clinton.

If trump tries to talk over and shout down Clinton, it may actually hurt trumps efforts because it will make him look like a bully.

Fact checking may not be on the table, but outright BS by either candidate should be.
Same with policies- Trump says he has them, then shall we see what they are.
On ISIL, he has a plan and slams the Military, now HRC I wonder if she will drag the US farther into Iraq-Syria??

True, we will have to see which version of Trump shows up at the debates. I'm guessing it's going to be this softer, smoother Trump that we have been seeing. Not the boisterous Trump that we saw towards the end of the primary. This Trump we are seeing now was also the Trump that was Present during the Jeb Bush days.

I'm guessing those on the left thought Jimmy Fallon was a principled leftist and not a ratings whore. He chose the ratings and not them.
This was also the point I was making. Fallon definitely could have gone after Trump and he does, in his skits all the time, but yet when the guy was two inches from his face
All he did was mess up his hair.

Yeah we will have to see how long that lasts. If his polls tank again next week then his coy apology didn't work. If they remain the same or grow, then his apology actually freaking worked!!!!

They didn't like being mocked but I think they like ratings and money better.
Trump has been mocking the media countless times before and playing them at their own game. He's been pretty successful at it all summer to conservative media in particular.
This is only his latest venture.

Trump knows how stupid and gullible the people in this country are, though. He also knows the media world really well and how to keep his name in the news.
All Americans are going to see, if they didn't watch his speech are the clickbait headlines that read: Trump says Obama Born in US.
That's further legitimizing a President Trump. This is what he is doing now. Further Legitimizing his candidacy until, so he wins.
