Pretty simply stated, it's clear this man has no moral compass. He has no principles and is conning the entire country right before our eyes. Real birthers, the guys who fell for this stuff must be pretty angry at this point, but if they are, they aren't saying so. They are laying low.

So that begs the question: Did Donald Trump fake his belief in the birther movement just to propel himself into politics and perhaps the white house, so that he could succeed the first African American President and in a sense fire him? Was it all faux outrage? A test to see how people would react and see if it would stick?

Of course if you (I) hit that no option, then you have to question every single position that he has ever laid out in the past year. Otherwise you are kidding yourself. I for one, don't believe a word he says! So what does that mean? Did he ever believe the birther nonsense? Or was he just using it for his own personal agenda, like a two-bit politician? Or does that mean he actually does STILL believe the birther stuff and just is basically lying to the world that this is now what he believes, because Top politicians uh told him what to say??

Of course he used it for exposure and to promote himself, just like every other thing he's ever done since he's been in the public eye.

Whether he believed what he said is no consequence.

He put time, effort, and a ton of money into supporting the movement.

So yes, he was not just a birther...he was the biggest of them all.

I don't even begin to care who was or is or is not or was not a 'birther'.

How much money did Trump put into the "movement"? If anything, I suspect he profited from it.

I think Trump is so offended by the presence of wanna be goodie two shoes prick supreme Obama that he would believe it if there was any chance it was true.

Which is to say that he did at one time.

“Bush was a disaster for the country as well as for the Republican Party. Then he asked me about Barack Obama. I told him that Barack will need to be a great president because we’re in serious trouble as a country. It hasn’t been this way since 1929. So he doesn’t have much choice—he will simply have to be great, which he has a very good chance of being. What he has done is amazing. The fact that he accomplished what he has—in one year and against great odds—is truly phenomenal.” (2009)
The 25 Worst Quotes from Donald Trump - John Hawkins

I have not looked into this, but something changed Trumps mind @2010 about Obama, Trump decided that Obama is an asshole who deserves to get punched.

This thread doesn't recognize that the term "birther" wasn't just restricted to just those who had beliefs of where he was born.

I can bet you those who fell for it on this forum are not sorry or angry - they will continue to stick to their beliefs.

My opinion, definitely not.
He used it to get GOP street cred and primary momentum with the loonies.
It was enough to get his campaign rolling.

Real birthers don't matter and his "selling skills" have probably convinced them to not care anyway.

Trump is "really" vain and greedy. Everything else is unknown.

Paraphrasing part of your post, "If you don't think he really meant that, then you can't believe a word he says." I think the proper response to that is, "LMFAO!" Yet again, Trump's mortal enemies would denigrate his supporters and take away their choice.

Preach to your choir.

No Trump was not really a birther-tard. I base that on the fact the man is a known liar and has praised and support Obama. Trump is nothing more than a liberal parody of a conservative.

Donald Trump is whatever he feels he needs to be on a given day.

First he was a "birther", now he's not. Don't be surprised if he is again someday.

Only Donald Trump will know. All I do know is that when he was a birther he was in the news, just as he has managed to propel himself into the news once again by dredging this up.

He didn't bring back up, HRC did and the media followed right along.
Funny thing was he bitch slapped them in the end.

These troll threads are really quite laughable.

"When did you stop beating your wife" screeds are so transparent it's difficult to avoid drawing conclusions about their creators.

Except that he was wrong. She didn't start birtherism. So he's either trolling, (which seems to be his get out of jail free card as far as you're concerned), or lying or just plain wrong.

We have evidence that Sid Blumenthal possibly started it.
So while it may not literally be her, it's possibly people the represented her campaign and often speak for her.
What that means is, same difference.

I chose to vote "Other", which means I didn't vote, but the general premise of the question I feel is valid, so I commented.

It wasn't even the campaign, it was just some supporter. Saying that Clinton started birtherism is like saying Donald started the Ku Klux Klan. Donald choosing to be a birther is all on Donald.

Was Trump REALLY a Birther?

i doubt it. he's more of a surfer than anything. he sees a wave, and he jumps right on it, seeing where it will take him. doesn't matter what the wave is as long as it moves him forward. then if that wave becomes a problem later, he can just flat out disavow the position. doesn't matter at that point; the wave has already taken him closer to where he wants to go.

Your link supports my posts.

Nope again.

One was a volunteer in Iowa, who was fired, Clinton’s former campaign manager said Friday. The other was Clinton confidant Sidney Blumenthal, according to a former McClatchy Washington Bureau chief.

“During the 2008 Democratic primary, Sid Blumenthal visited the Washington Bureau of McClatchy Co.,” Asher said in an email Friday to McClatchy, noting that he was at the time the investigative editor and in charge of Africa coverage.

“During that meeting, Mr. Blumenthal and I met together in my office and he strongly urged me to investigate the exact place of President Obama’s birth, which he suggested was in Kenya. We assigned a reporter to go to Kenya, and that reporter determined that the allegation was false.

Do you know who Sid Blumenthal is?
