Re: Do dirty cop lives matter?

Jews in USSR were subject to discrimination but never ever exterminated. USSR is not Nazi Germany.

We left in early 1980s.

Stalinist executions and being sent to the gulag isn't exterminating y'all?

The proportion of Jews in GULAG was the same as that in population of USSR. Stalin's justice system and incarceration rate were as bad as they are USA since 1990s.

Okay, now I know your making **** up. After all, your comparing Stalinism to the US justice system.

Re: Do dirty cop lives matter?

The peak population of GULAG was 2,700,000 in 1950. Less then US prison population today.

Yeah, summary execution of your prisoners tends to keep the prison population down.

It is a tragedy that 700,000 people were executed and 1,400,000 people died in GULAG 1930 to 1953. But that is not even close to 11 million people killed in German camps.

Re: Do dirty cop lives matter?

I left USSR when I was 12, so I did not experience much discrimination. But African Americans in USA are disproportionately imprisoned.

Maybe they should behave proportionally as other colors of people.

Re: Do dirty cop lives matter?

Do criminal lives matter?

Yes or No?

Re: Do dirty cop lives matter?

Would you mind if a corrupt dirty cop was shot by a gangbanger?

I wouldn't mind at all. All the gangbanger has to do is claim he feared for his life. Just claim that the cop reached for his waistband and I'm sure that he'll be given paid time off, not drug tested, and not even indicted. What's good for cops should be good for everyone else.

At least the American prisoners had the benefit of a fair trial.

Re: Do dirty cop lives matter?

First off, your poll and the question in the OP are two completely different things.

Second, there are all kinds of situations where a gangbanger might legitimately shoot a corrupt cop and vice versa.

Third, we put laws in place to deal with criminal behavior no matter who the culprit is.

In which they are forced to plead guilty to avoid a longer term on more charges.

Who forced them to plead guilty?

Re: Do dirty cop lives matter?

Do criminal lives matter?

Yes or No?

Definitely. Not in USA but in civilized nations. In Canada it costs $150K/year to keep a lifer in prison. Everyone has rights.

Re: Do dirty cop lives matter?

Who forced them to plead guilty?

The Plea Bargain System means that 90% of prisoners did not get a fair trial.

No one is forced to accept a plea deal.

You don't understand how people ended up I'm the gulags, do you?

Re: Do dirty cop lives matter?

No one is forced to accept a plea deal.

Not by torture but by threat of very long imprisonment.

PS. Read many books about GULAG.

Re: Do dirty cop lives matter?

The vast majority of US "criminals" have mental disorders and have not been helped by society. This is neither Canada nor Scandinavia.

Absolutely false.

Re: Do dirty cop lives matter?

First off, everyone should mind when anyone is killed in a criminal homicide,

But my response would be different depending upon the circumstances, if the dirty cop is working for a violent gang and gets offed for becoming a liability by that gang or a rival one, that falls under the umbrella of winning stupid prizes for playing stupid games, if a cop took a small bribe of a traffic ticket and is killed later that night in an unrelated shooting, that is killing a police officer and it doesn't change my reaction to it.

Re: Do dirty cop lives matter?

Incarceration rate for the two systems is about the same.

so? the incarceration rate is irrelevant, the reason for the incaceration is what matters.

I've read plenty about the gulags. They were no different than the Nazi concentration camps. It's assinine to compare the American justice system to the gulags.

About 11 million people were killed in Nazi camps. During 1930 -- 1953, about 1.4 million prisoners died in GULAG -- mostly as a result of WWII time hunger.
