If you hadn't read about it, a pizza place is using that slogan to advertise a tuna dish. It's garnered quite a bit of publicity, some positive and some not so positive.

So what do you think?
funny

both
neither

I think it's somewhat funny. Don't have a problem with it.

But I have a feeling BLM supporters are probably not gonna like it because it's "trivializing the issue".

That's racist.

Green olives do NOT matter. They're disgusting.

As to the topic, I think it's kinda crass. Not entirely unfunny, but certainly not a way to drum up business outside of GoFundMe possibilities.

I prefer green olives.

T-shirt sales are pretty good, though, it seems and the bigger the controversy, the better the sales. Of course, that'll only last so long and this little pizza joint may have bitten of more than it can chew.

About the only olives I can stand are the regular ol' black ones that we put on nachos and pizza and stuff. I loathe all others. Which makes it tough as someone who likes Greek food but doesn't like olives or feta. Seriously limits my options.

Pun intended?

Yeah, deliberately offending people -- even if the people in question are often a little too easily offended -- doesn't strike me as a solid business plan.

It's certainly not the best business idea.

I really don't think there was a deliberate plan to offend, though and there's no way to be completely inoffensive. Folks can always find a way. I'd totally eat at this place if the foods good.

Except now the place has national attention. In fact, it's not all that far from where I live and I find myself wanting to see if it's any good and yesterday I didn't even know this place existed.

Yeah, it's got attention. Then it gets called out, then the owner sets up a GoFundMe and gets free cash from people who hate "PC."

For some, a good morning is offensive and for others it's a friendly gesture. The goal is to make people so concerned about offending that they no longer talk to anyone they don't know and especially not someone in the controlled victim groups.

I got a chuckle.

I prefer the "Black Ice Matters" jokes from this winter though in terms of BLM knock off jokes.

Also, this is clearly the best one...

Zabrak lives totally matter (except to George Lucas)

Great idea. Funny and clever. Certainly gets people talking about the restaurant, and if the subversive BLM movement attempts to make an issue of it, I would think people would push back.

Big bang for little bucks - the dream advertising campaign.

I find all BLM knock-off jokes offensive.

Green olives is good with hummus, sliced tomatoes and warm pita bread.

what i find funny is that the only black lives that appear to matter are those lives taken by white people defending themselves against the aforementioned black life's violent aggression.

It did not say where the restaurant was located, if in a poor area they might lose a lot of business, if not they will probably make a killing in sales.
As for the "outrage", get over it, BLM does not own the rights to the words and are not going to, so pull up your big boy pants and move on with your life.

Yesterday there was a 6.2 earthquake in Italy with significant loss of life and little towns destroyed. American University in Kabul suffered a terrorist attack. Laughing about a restaurant's little play on words is "okay."
