I dont support the level of taxation that those two societies impose on productive people to pay for that crap. and most of the Democrats won't support the level of taxation those two societies impose on the bottom 50% to pay for that either
most of those-don't involve illegal substances do they?
Contrarian nonsense isn't really helpful
In SW Ohio there is a huge increase in the number of heroin overdoses. Our first responders have been tied up responding to Heroin addicts' suffering overdoses and this in turn is expensive as it consumes the time of the responders plus the medical costs of reviving and then treating addicts.
Should society stop wasting money and time on idiots who engage in such self-destructive behavior
you make a fair point but I would triage Heroin ODs and in terms of priority for first responders, put them at the back of the line compared to say accident victims or crime victims

uh its easy to tell why someone has OD'd Heart attacks etc, not so much. Arthur Ashe-one of the greatest tennis players in US History had a heart attack. So did Basketball college star Hank Gaithers. fitness was not an issue. Diet was not an issue.
You , TurtleDude are a misanthrope ! Civilized people must take the more difficult path ..In SW Ohio there is a huge increase in the number of heroin overdoses. Absolutely, but this has been very well ''covered up'' ... particularly with drugs , must less with alcohol .. a badge of ''honor'' of a sorts .No great people were addicted to alcohol or drugs? I am sure there was one out there somewhere.

:lamoIts not an either or. Save them, and then make them pay for the treatment.
What do you base that position on? Your religious beliefs? You , TurtleDude are a misanthrope ! Civilized people must take the more difficult path ..
Hippocratic Oath.
what if a heart attack victim or the victim of a shooting dies because the first responders are tied up treating self inflicted heroin overdoses? 30 ODs in one day-that's a ton of time involving first responders? Should those who OD be (yeah I know lots of them are stealing to pay for their habit) charged for the cost of their treatment?
