i am sure the dark recesses of the amygdalas of gun nuts will conjure mortal threats around every corner to justify such weapons, but that is why we call it irrational. In fact, why don't you list some of these threats just so the sane among us can look upon you with pity rather than contempt

if society is so safe that you consider it paranoia for people to own firearms (and I will assume you do not consider recreational, or competitive shooting to be worthwhile) for self defense, then society is so safe we don't need anymore Bannerrhoid laws do we?

having a semi automatic harms no one. Gay sex spread AIDS all over the place.

lol right after you admitted gay sex doesn't harm you, who are trying to fool now?

i'm far more concerned about deranged psychos like the orlando killer given unfettered access to weapons of mass carnage than i am of catching AIDS, and i'm certainly in a better position than you to gauge the two risks

don't expect anyone to take your side if you can't even compromise on banning terrorist suspects who claim membership to hezbollah in fbi interviews

gay sex does't harm me because I don't engage in it but AIDS is a byproduct of careless homosexual anal intercourse.
you are lying if you claim there is legal unfettered access to weapons. And calling a semi auto rifle a weapon of mass carnage is high on the hysterical level but rather wanting when it comes to rational thought. what is a "terrorist suspect"? Have they been convicted of anything? charged with anything? indicted for anything? is due process something that bothers you.

but lets examine your frequently changing position

is your position that NO ONE should be able to own a common AR 15 rifle or is it only those "suspected" of something or worse?

I don't care about shooting at a gun range or whatever. Might even enjoy it myself, but at least when i'm there, everyone accepts the risks, no bystanders

Society is safe until gun nuts start shooting it up out of moments of rage or carelessness, like kids getting a hold of the weapons. Or in the case of determined criminals, obviously. The question is if your ability to use a semi automatic, such as an AR, to defend yourself in a moment of crisis outweighs the risks to innocent bystanders of a gun owner using the gun out of cowardice when there is no serious threat, or by accident. I've never heard of an AR thwarting a threat, except maybe in gangland, or by SWAT teams, but i've certainly heard all the time is scared ****less gun owners killing some unarmed kid in a hoodie and so on

So answer the question and tell us why you need the semi automatic for self defense

every major league police department issues semi auto firearms

that alone is a sufficient answer. are you aware of Korean Shopkeepers deterring wilding gangs of black thugs during the Rodney King Riots by merely brandishing "assault weapons" on the roofs of their businesses?

what expertise do you have in tactical firearms use?

ok so according to you i should be more afraid of AIDS than a psycho like the orlando killer, or that i would feel safer if i bought an AR 15 than i would with a condom

The fact is i've endured violence due to my sexuality. I know plenty who have. A weapon like that does not give me a sense of control over others' hatreds. I learned to accept long ago that i will never be entirely safe, anywhere

If someone can demonstrate a likely need for an AR 15 i would be open to that, again in places like south chicago where gangs have taken over, but definitely not ****ing suburbia and definitely not anyone with propensity to violence or mental problems

how many people have died of AIDS in the USA

how many people have died illegally as a result of being shot with an AR 15

any ideas.

we don't need to prove a need to exercise constitutional rights.

this is like saying that suicides should count against risk of gun proliferation

if i did get AIDS, assuming i wasn't raped, there is a 99,999/100,000 chance that it was preventable on my part. You said as much yourself with the "*careless* homosexual intercourse." It is not remotely similar to dancing at a club when some lunatic opens fire. Not to mention being shot is far more likely fatal than AIDS these days. Some 50% of the victims at orlando were killed immediately

so what is your solution to the extremely rare chance that you will be the victim of a random shooting-and the even far rarer chance that the killer will use an AR 15?

i already told you? At least make it harder for the obvious high risk individual to acquire those weapons, so that, if nothing else, society isn't complicit! Hell, you should welcome this. At least then if the murders did occur we couldn't blame your policies for it

What i do know is i won't ever be dancing at a club with an AR 15 for "self defense" in one hand and a drink in another. That is just ludicrous and contributes nothing to safety

There is crime? Blame freedom!

how do you do that without infringing on the rights of people who aren't high risk?

you shouldn't be handling a firearm if you are drinking alcohol.

i have seen you using this tragedy to ridicule AR "bannites" who want to 'deprive gay people of a way to defend themselves' so you tell me how else that is supposed to play out where everyone at Pulse would be carrying around an AR 15 for "self defense." I bet you anything if that were the case there would've been shootings there long before that night in june

what are you babbling about? its against the law to be drinking and packing heat in every state I can think of.

wow that flew right over your head. Had the fanatic in orlando had only a fist or knife, many more would've survived. That is a fact

The issue is how many violent crimes are deterred (as in, actual self defense) by semi automatics vs how many are committed. I guarantee the latter is far higher

How could you possibly know how many are deterred? They didn't happen. And now you are saying "semi automatics." You just included MANY handguns, rifles, and shotguns. All with sporting purposes. Be it hunting or competitive. Now I see your purpose.
