I think I've only known one Muslim. He was born in Egypt, but he was raised here from a very young age so he was essentially American. He was a nice guy and had fun joking around with us about being a terrorist. I loved his name as well just because he had eight of them and three of them were Mansour.

I've met thousands of Muslims. Some are very close friends. In my experience, much depends on their age and where you meet them. Generalities...

- America: Muslims of all ages are fairly well assimilated
- Europe: The young fiercely resist assimilation.
- Africa: Friendly and unfriendly - depends on the locale.
- Middle East: Generally very cordial and hospitable.
- Iran: The nicest people you'll ever meet.
- Pakistan: Quite iffy.
- Afghanistan: The majority are extremely very nice.

From all the Muslim's I have met through my work or incidently outside of work, I have to say that the over-whelming majority have been the most kind, thoughtful and compassionate people I have ever met in my life.

Muslims are good people in general, i have never had any problems with them and have muslim members in my family. Unfortunately, the west cannot seperate between extremist muslims and moderate muslims, and recognize that both of them are NOT the same thing. The Jihadist movement, unfortunately, have cast a shadow on muslims everywhere, and should be the top priority of all muslim nations to deter terror.

I've known quite a few Muslims beginning in college and through the years. I shared my home with a Muslim for over a year. Muslims are no different than any other people, IMHO.

There are some cultural differences I've noticed among Muslims who are visiting or relatively new immigrants.

But as far as being kind, thoughtful or compassionate, they aren't any better or any worse than anyone else as far as I can tell.

A Muslim is just as likely to be an ass-hole as anyone else.

;)

That's basically my experience. Only I'd replace Afghan Muslims with Singaporean Muslims. I've met very few Muslims who weren't more then willing to welcome me into their homes. Even when I was wearing a Christian rosary. Even when I'm not wearing a suit and I'm in my usual wear. Even when my tattoos are exposed. My experience with Pakistani Muslims is a little bit rougher. From what I've seen they tend to live very.....dramatic lives. Specially the ones who want to assimilate into Western culture. They live between the bigotry back home and the new life in America.

that's bull****
it may not always be clear in the speech
but the overwhelming majority of westerners know full well that radical Islam, terrorist islam, jihad islam, yada yada yada Islam is only a small part of the community known as Muslims
many of us are frustrated with teh lack of efforts being made by moderate muslims to end radical islam
other than TOT and a few select others, in cyberspace and IRL, I have never met anybody who thought all muslims are evil and must die

The situation in the world today borders on the fantastic. Never before in history has one civilization allowed large numbers of those who come from an alien, and immutably hostile situation, to settle deep within that first civilization’s borders.

Never before have the members of one civilization failed to investigate, and even willfully refused to investigate, or to listen to those who warn about, the consequences for all non-Muslims of the belief-system of Islam. In history, the phenomenon of the Barbarians at the Gates is hardly new. Those barbarians lay siege; if they win, they enter in triumph. Should they lose, the advanced civilization survives. But never before have the gates been opened, to an entering force that has not even been identified or understood.

Never before have the inhabitants of the by-now vulnerable city made efforts not to recognize, or realize, what they have done, and what they have undone. That demographic intrusion shows no signs of diminishing. The systematic building of mosques and madrasas, paid for by Saudi Arabia, everywhere in the Western world, helps to make the conduct of Muslim life easier.

Western populations have been trained to make much of “celebrating diversity” and “promoting difference” and constructing, on a base of militant but unexamined pluralism, an edifice of legal rights and entitlements. These rights, these entitlements, this militant pluralism are exploited by Muslims who do not believe in pluralism.

Nor do they accept the individual rights of conscience and free speech, the legal equality of men and women, and of religious and racial minorities, recognized, for example, in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Their current claim to support pluralism is based on the need to protect, and increase the power of, the Muslim umma, or Community, within the West, until such time as that umma no longer needs to pretend to have any interest in Western pluralism and Western values.

I work with 2

1 is westernized (does not eat pork, but drinks alcohol)

2 is strict, and practices Sharia inside his house.

I have seen neither pray, though #2 might.

I went to the local mosque with them once, did not hear anything really bad so that made me feel good. I could pass for one of the white brothers. I did pretend to be a Muslim though, as i do speak some Arabic.

I find the converts i meet in the US to be the most unfriendly Muslims.

I can honestly say i have not met many Muslim that outright disliked. I disagreed with them strongly on many topics but for the most part were cordial.

Generally the black American Muslims i have met were the worst. I am referring to the ones that follow the Nation of Islam. Most if not all of these are converts.

As for African Muslims, all the ones i have met were poor and that probably had more of an impact on their attitude then being a Muslim.

Most of the ones i deal with are well educated Indian or Pakistani Muslims, assimilated and moderate.

One thing that seems to be universal from all the Muslims i meet is they dislike Israel and Dogs.

Haha yes, i agree with the Israel thing, but from personal experience i dont think its just dogs, but domesticated animals and wild animals in general.

My grandmother on my mothers side is actually a muslim, and one of the only religious people in my family, and, ironically, alergic to cats :2razz:. Moderate muslim, very nice and loving lady. Prays 9 times a day, goes to the mosque, doesnt eat pork...quiet strick to her practice and faithful to her religion. Literally the only muslim i know in practice and in theory. Sometimes my grandmother would make me recite arabic phrases from the Quaran. Im not a muslim and took very little interest in the religion and its beliefs so i didnt pay much attention, but i do remember a few words; masallah and isallah!
