Wish in one hand.......:2razz:

Yup all of the world's problems are at the fault of America.

If America does something, and things don't go smoothly, it's America's fault.

If genocides are ocurring and no one steps up, it's America that is to blame.

What a joke.

Let's just run it into the ground because Jesus is coming back.
If you read revelations it says that it would end this way.
Too late, pack your bags for heaven, no use trying to fix it now.
Oh -- wait, you um don't bother packing.

American culture does rule. Why else would it be exported throughout the world?

Uhhh,

I'd probably call the holcaust the worst of it.

Please describe what you mean by "the worst of it"

I saw a documentary the other day on what Euro's think of America, and it's pretty much all deragatory. Yet there all wearing "GAP" hoodies or Nike shoes.

In other words, if you own any levi's or ever drink coca-cola, thanks for your part in expanding the american empire.

I do in fact enjoy being selfish. Welcome back Max, it's been awhile.

European's think negatively of America? That's quite shocking.

What was the name of this documentary? I may want to check this out for myself.

I had a friend who bought a pleasant looking, comfy, old house. It was perfectly fine to live in but a year or so after buying it he realized that a termite infestation had set in and he looked at all of his options about what to do.

He considered the least invasive alternative, which would have been to simply call Orkin. But he was also getting complaints from the neighbors about his son's trumpet practicing disturbing their reverie. And in the mornings it was a real struggle for a family of four to share just one bathroom. And the neighbor on the other side had a dog that was constantly going over the wooden lathe weaved fence or under/between/through the otherwise thick shrubbery and getting into his yard and crapping there as though he was telling all other dogs that this was HIS bathroom.

So with everything considered he decided to completely remodel the house inside and out, top to bottom, wiring, plumbing, insulation, sound proofing and solar energy cells and landscaping.

And though I wouldn't have done it, he liked the fact that it was in a very historic neighborhood and that remodeling not only made it everything he could need, it also made the house viable for at least another 100 years and it retained the look and feel of that once high society neighborhood from the turn of the 19th/20th Century.

However, the problem with all that was that the remodeling came about at the expense of great inconvenience and disruption to the family's normal way of life. Their youngest once commented that she hated the house and whenever mom and dad were talking about the progress of the work she would sometimes pee on herself (think of the scene in the Exorcist when Regan tells the astronaut at the dinner party he's going to die up there and then she urinates on the floor) or do something else to make them stop talking about what she could only understand was a terrible disruption and bad.

She thought that the remodeling was bad and that the best thing to do would be to just stop mom and dad from talking about it and then everything would be alright.

She couldn't understand that the only way things would ever be normal again would be if the job was finished.

And once it was finished then everything WAS better. Some minor problems always arise even in the best case scenario. But, they are an example of how a short term inconvenience (and truly, who here that complains about the war has been anything more than intellectually affected?) can result in a much better outcome than if nothing at all had been done.

And it also goes to show that when our war protesters don't understand what's going on but they just don't like it they often act like babies and get really pissy.

Let's see. Under "America's watch"...

- The amount of war casualties worldwide per capita is at an all-time low.

- Medical advances (mostly researched and developed in the US, and all driven by free market capitalism) have nearly doubled the life expectancy in the Western world over the past century, and show no sign of slowing down.

- Two of the most brutal expansionist threats the world has ever seen, Nazism and communism, were defeated.

- Free trade, convenient transportation, and information technology have exploded, allowing businesses to utilize resources and employees from all over the world.

- A greater percentage of the world's population lives in a democracy than at any time in human history.

You're right, the world is ****ed. And it's all America's fault.

Life is good, it sounds like you need some Prozak, try not to off yourself, the cold war is over, China's modernizing, South America is doing just fine in liberalization with the exceptions of Chavez, Morales, Castro, and now that Sandinista POS Ortega got elected, and the Middle East, due to actions of the U.S. and her Western (and former Soviet Blok) allies, is slowly but surely becoming Democratic and Pluralist and where U.S. presence is strongest it is happening even quicker than East Asia namely China. Soon the Iranian regime will fall, Pakistan will be returning to full civilian control by the end of 2008, in Afghanistan the job is pretty much done, and in Iraq the surge is working and the Iraqi military and security forces seem like they'll be capable of total self sustainability within the next couple of years and the U.S. will begin to switch to a true support roll with only minimal U.S. ground presence.

It depends.

Are we talking about before I've had my coffee or after?

Not really most of the biggest American advancements have come from the military.

But arguable that America is its own expansionist threat.

lol, American pharmaceuticals are top of the line and advancement in R&D by U.S. pharmaceuticals are un-parrelled, mainly because we aren't a bunch of socialists who steal patents to make generic drugs without paying for the R&D.

But arguable that America is its own expansionist threat.

Bullshit the U.S. is the largest Liberalizing force in the history of the world, we're only a threat if you consider liberty to be a threat.

Umm no. Most have come from pharmaceutical companies or private researches interested in making a profit. Even the medical research that has come from the military/universities has come from individuals with an incentive to succeed: More money, more recognition, a promotion, etc.

However, the point is that a lot of the medical advancement of the past century would not have happened without US innovation.

Not really. America throws its weight around too much, but that isn't the same as expansionism. The US hasn't been interested in conquering any new land for 100 years.

I agree it is fair to criticize some of America's actions taken during its "watch"; include the recent blunder in Iraq.

But I will be happy to defend America's watch with the watches of other nations who had dominant power or sought it; including European nations like Rome Spain France Portugal England Germany and Russia.

Given the military superiority the US has had, it is not unfair to say that the US has been the least agressive, most responsible, and most tolerant and fair dominant power in history.

Or do you want to debate a nation you contend is a better example of a dominant power?

Is it.

Are you sure you are alright?
The world is better now in some ways than it was 50 years ago, and possibly worse in some ways.

Name for me what you think is wrong with the world, and most likely you will be wrong about 75+% of it.

Well if people would stop thinking that human beings are benevolent creations as opposed to actually being big brained mammals maybe we'd see the world differently.

Other great equalizers besides death;

Just about everybody in the world, and literally everybody in America, has at least one pair of blue jeans.

If there was an animal that could pick us up like we can a gerbal, we'd poop in it's hand while being squeezed too.

Everybody has three things in common, opinions, A-holes and the third is that everybody thinks both of everbody else's stinks

That was a misread on my part. I thought you wrote most, not medical.

Not really. America throws its weight around too much, but that isn't the same as expansionism. The US hasn't been interested in conquering any new land for 100 years.

Yes but look at US diplomacy and look how it affect the receiving end of it.
