big·ot
ˈbiɡət/
noun
noun: bigot; plural noun: bigots

a person who is intolerant toward those holding different opinions.

My experiences tell me yes, all people who strictly try to follow ancient religions are bigots. I'm curious of other peoples opinions on this.

Typically no - they are not bigots. The SC AME church full of bigots? No I think that was made abundantly clear over the past 10 days.

That's a pretty bigoted OP, if you ask me.

No. But when they are bigots, it's particularly problematic since their bigotry is based on an authority that can't be challenged and therefore can't be reasoned with.

And are you intolerant of those holding an opposing view?

Not in my general experience. But that was more or less true of the homosexuals I had known up till a while ago.

And are you intolerant of those holding an opposing view?

I'm only intolerant of people who wish to harm other people. A persons opinion is something I will always tolerate. Even if I disagree I will tolerate it. It's hard to believe that gays are tolerated in America, even with SCOTUS backing them. The backlash from people who are intolerant of gays is overwhelming from my perspective.

The Left have redefined the word bigot to mean anyone who has the audacity to tell them "No".

No, religious people are not typically bigots. But bigots are typically very religious.

I hope you're aware of the irony of including the definition of bigotry immediately before you made your bigoted statement.

Absolutely they are, by definition. That doesn't mean that they want to harm others necessarily, but all of them think that people of other belief systems are wrong and many think that's going to send those people to eternal damnation. How is that not being a bigot?

Indeed. The first thing that leapt to mind when reading the OP was "Oh, you mean like the left is?" :lamo

Right, their intolerance of intolerance shows their intolerance and is intolerable...;)

of course not, at least not in this country

most religious people are not bigots because it takes more than feelings to be intolerant it tpycially takes ACTIONS or complete judgement where one views others as lessers

for example a person who THINKS and FEELS equal rights for gays is wrong is not a bigot based on that alone. But a person that tries to STOP a fellow american from having equal rights because they see that person as a lesser and not deserving of equal rights then they are now a bigot. Its the action, not the feeling.

If you look fully, you'll notice that almost all people are bigots. Religious people included.

A bigot wouldn't ask....

I just found it odd or ironic that you'd post a definition of bigotry and then proceed to ask a bigoted question seeking to validate your bigoted opinion of a group you're apparently intolerant of.

So that is what makes them bigoted?

Where did I say I wouldn't tolerate these people?

Most people who generalize with "ALL" are truly bigots.

I have never seen any group, family, tribe, race, religion, sect, or club where the word "all" would apply to anything other than membership.

With your logic I could say all leftists hate religion and are therefor bigots.

Have a nice time wrapping your head around some basic Boulian logic.

because that's merely an opinion. It's when they start acting on those beliefs to oppress that they become bigots

Notice the word strict also.

People who are strict on their religious practices would be bigots. For example, a person who feels women have no rights because their religion forbids it.

It's not just an opinion. An opinion is "I like chocolate ice cream". This is a claim about the state of objective reality. That's like saying gravity is an opinion. It is not.
