Make it a capital crime to employ undocumented workers/ immigrants.

That would be cruel and unusual punishment so it would be unconstitutional.

Nope.

#1 that is excessive

#2 the super cheap labor is real tempting, too tempting for many AS IT SHOULD BE

#3 let capitalism do its thing. If these guys outsource Americans in certain low skilled work jobs then whatever we should hire their ****ing asses

Would certainly stop fast food workers from demanding $15 an hour.

And those pimple faced burger flipping mother****ers who give us TERRIBLE customer service don't even deserve that wage. If the government didn't stick its nose in then their wage would rightly be something around ****ing 6-7 dollars an hour.

A lot of places still have a minimum wage of around $7-something an hour. I'm sorry that fast food workers can't support their families on minimum wage, but maybe they should have made better choices when they were younger.

Was a tongue in cheek comment based on the fact the issue still hasn't been resolved politically in the USA.

Ignore the constitutionality.

Imagine if that WERE the law.

Would the problem disappear?

Does capital punishment stop people from murdering?

I think treating those who hire illegals the same way we do mobsters, drug dealers and other criminals who profit from illegal activities would greatly deter these scum from hiring illegals. That means making these employers subject to prison time, severe fines , loss of business licenses, and after a guilty conviction subject to asset seizure and forfeiture laws.

It wouldn't for the simple reason that the death penalty takes decades, at the very least, to carry out. If it happened the next day, yes, as it stands now, no. Besides, it's really pointless, just levy a $10,000 fine for every single infraction, going up to the revocation of the business license on the third offense. You won't see anyone hiring illegals.

Wow. Ever the compassionate Conservative, ay?

Damn, Supes. Its a pity youre already married. :D

Mindless compassion is for fools. The fact is that any penalty that is not carried out in short order loses any ability to dissuade people from committing the same crime. It doesn't matter what the penalty is, none of them work if they are not quickly applied. How many people do you think would be afraid to rob a bank if they knew that they'd only be put in prison after they turned 75?

Folks are answering this as if you had stated Capital Punishment instead of "capital crime". Maybe that was your intent? But as worded, "capital crime" just means that the death penalty can be giving, not that it will be.

Would such classification solve the issue? That depends on other factors.

If you had made it to "knowingly employ" and included making it a capital crime to come to the is country illegally, it might.

ill applaud you for actually discussing the topic. !

Including
For minors brought in by their parents by force?
That would be a great deterrent to those wanting to enter illegally.
It's not like it would be done without warning. So if they do not want to head the warnings that is all on them.

Also, it seems like you're in favor of executing 10-20M instead of far fewer # of employers.

My solution seems more efficient.
1. You have no solution. Illegals are good at hiding their illegality. Punishing employers because of the illegal's actions is absurd. It would have to be "knowingly employed" which is a hard case to prove, which also would not have much affect on overall illegal entry.

2. nor have you clearly stated your proposal, as "capital crime" does not necessitate "capital punishment".

3. Illegal invaders wouldn't care about the legal problems of an employer and it isn't likely to have an affect on those who enter illegally as they are good at hiding their illegality with falsified papers.

You have to have laws that affect both groups. Those who knowingly employ and those who knowingly invade.
You will have more affect on illegal immigration when punishment for it is severe.
