In 1984 Ronald Reagan got the best result in history of the United Staates Of America. The Reaganomics were popular all around the world. Do you think that he was the greatest President of the United States?

No, he was a corporate stooge who made the rich richer and poor poorer.

Just because he fundamentally strengthened the economy, won the Cold War and had a wonderful voice?

No, Abraham Lincoln, George Washington and Franklin Roosevelt rank above him. I would put Reagan in the top 10.

This may come as a surprise to you but the rich (and talented) have the habit of making themselves richer. They don't need a President or a government for that.

If that's the case why are the 1% so afraid of paying taxes?

This mantra of "the 1%" is pretty silly and meaningless. But I take it you are referring to the rich. They are not "afraid" but they have the means and opportunity to make full use of the tax code. Another example of how greater government attempts at manipulation (through an ever more complicated tax code) has absolutely zero effect.

You're kidding, right?

He's not even close to the top of the list.

"The best result" of what?

Reagan was a good leader. And his leadership was just what this country needed after Watergate, the Iran hostage crisis, the oil embargo, a useless war in Vietnam, etc. The country hit a low point, and his leadership helped lift the country.

BUT his policies for the most part were awful and in the long run many were very destructive. Trickle down especially has been proven to have been, and still is a disaster and a failure.

So the best? Nope, policywise not even in the top 25. But leadershipwise yeah, he's in the top 5.

If by "best", you meant, "worst"..... then your poll would have a lot more significance.

With that said, I'd honestly say he's middle of the road. Did a few good and short-lasting things, did a lot more of bad and damaging things long term.

Kind of like modern corporate strategy. Short term vision, future be damned.

Reagan himself would not have thought he was the best president of all time. I do think history will regard him as a transformational president though. Moreover, the OP is wrong about the 1984 election. LBJ was elected in 1964 with a larger percentage of the vote and much higher turnout than in 1984 (another sweeping election).

I pretty much agree with this but I will add that his leadership skills were greatly emphasized by his natural charisma.

I think he's one of those few Presidents that looks worse over time instead of better. I think it's pretty plain to see now that his destructive economic policies (Reaganomics) are the root cause of all of the problems we face today, including the wealth gap.

Im an independent and no . . . . lol
im not saying he was the worst but he doesnt even deserve in the conversation IMO

What did the others better? Nobody of the people who voted lived when Abraham Lincoln was President.

Well, it would be quite difficult to express a first-hand opinion on all of the previous presidents, wouldn't it?
