Whether you apologize for your errors or not is irrelevant. You still have no credible evidence for your beliefs, thus we're all free to laugh at them.
Keep laughing Bro. Hell ain't half full.
You do realize theres no saving those who mock God? You are screwed.
do you have credible evidence for your non-belief?
Some churches have corruption, what human organization doesn't?
Most religious groups do a lot of good.
I didn't say it did. However, in light of those types of facts, it is intentionally ignorant to claim that the religious are somehow exempt from the most despicable crimes of humanity. Indeed, they use their religion to hide from prosecution. Even more despicably, people like you allow them to, by continuing to claim nonsense such as the religious having higher morals.
What is it they say about good men doing nothing? And you justify ignoring these men of god who rape children and preach violence towards gays even as they hire male prostitutes by saying god will deal with them in the afterlife? Gee, how comforting to their living victims.
It seems to me the religious have strayed much more than have the non-religious. At least we still call a spade a spade. And that is what is wrong with dogmatic and irrational ways of thinking: it gives justification to doing nothing about things like paedophiles in your own ranks. Simply claim No True Scotsman and it's no longer your problem.
God will sort them out indeed. If you're right about such a god, hopefully he will sort out the wilfully blind who would rather protect their sense of superiority than other human beings as well. Jesus wept, as they say.
You make a whole lot of assumptions and generalizations about people of faith and me based on the history of the actions of the elitist hierarchy. I don't have any more control over what they do than I do over any government or corporation on this planet nor do I preach their accolades or encourage anyone to join them.
My Wife and I are "two that gather in HIS name" and nothing more.
So tell me, what event in your life led to your fall from grace?
Ah yes, the childish insults begin. Can't expect better from you god-botherers.
I'm not assuming anything. Here you are, waving these things away as though they either don't exist or they "don't count, " so that you can claim your beliefs cause moral superiority. You're doing it right here.
As I said, cold comfort to living victims, as though you could possibly care any less.
It isn't just the higher-ups either. It's the lower-downs too, who are constantly justifying their own bad behavior, or waving it off because they'll get forgiveness. Are you aware the religious are over-represented in prisons?
Telling yourself the creator of the universe doesn't think what you did is any big deal is sure an easy way to get away with things, and again, you just wave it off so you can pretend they don't exist -- in droves -- and continue feeling superior for believing in whatever superstitions you do.
You know, I actually wasn't indoctrinated into any religion growing up. If you're hoping for some kind of sad story, there isn't one -- I just never saw a reason to believe in a god. I went through an exploratory phase when I was a tween because I was curious of what some people saw in it, but dropped it after a while. While some religions are fascinating, none of them made any sense as things to believe in, and I wound up feeling as though the whole thing was kind of silly.
But it says a lot about your "godliness" that you seem to have been hoping something horrible had happened to me, again, so you could feel superior. Gee, how Christ-like of you.
Sister, you have me all wrong. I don't feel superior to anyone, only blessed by what God has bestowed upon my family.
Your life has apparently been wonderful up until now and I do hope it continues. However, if there's ever a time you feel alone and vulnerable, God will always be there for you. All you need is to seek him out.
Then I'd reconsider the way you behave, because it certainly seems otherwise.
At any rate, no, it is not shelteredness that has made me see no reason to believe in a god. My life has not been easy, though none of it has caused my lack of belief -- religion wasn't beaten into my head as a kid, therefore it simply isn't there.
But when I feel alone and vulnerable, I usually find some combination of my real loved ones, my own competence, and art is more than sufficient for anything I may need.
so the groups that provide aid after natural disasters aren't helping people? The LDS have lots of stuff to donate and the Catholic Church has a good distribution network, and they work together to provide aid. Money donated to the aid fund goes 99% to helping people. The churches cover the overhead, and nearly all the workers are volunteers. The Salvation Army is a good group to donate to as well, its CEO gets a pittance for salary compared to most charitable groups. They aren't out to help people, simply for the sake of helping people.
The fatal flaw in your reasoning and world view is that you believe everybody is like you.I don't have to, any more than I have to prove that there are no unicorns. The religious have entirely failed to back up their claims, there is no more reason to believe in gods than there is to believe in leprechauns. And no, I wouldn't say that religious groups do much good, their motives for acting are purely selfish for the most part. They want to indoctrinate people into their club. They aren't out to help people, simply for the sake of helping people.
Those aren't insults. More prophetic warnings than anything.
I prayed last evening for guidance in dealing with those who mock the Lord.
"May God hold you in the palm of His hand. ... May the blessing of light be on you" "Through Jesus Christ I ask these things"

Good people with good causes are out there, believe it or not.
and....smaller churches like the one my older sister attends....they provide assistance to the homebound within their group. My sister would have precious little contact were it not for her Sunday School group that has someone visit her regularly.
The fatal flaw in your reasoning and world view is that you believe everybody is like you.
you are seriously out of touch with reality.....got links for any of these claims?Sure they are and there are plenty of non-religious groups out there on the ground doing it as well. However, as with the recent Nepal disaster, you have plenty of religious groups sending Bibles to affected areas, not actual aid. There is only limited space on those planes and the more religious nonsense they send, the less room there is for things that actually matter like food, medical supplies, etc.
And actually, the Salvation Army is a horrible organization, it often provides aid based on coercion. You have to be willing to listen to a sermon or pretend that you've converted to Christianity to get a hot meal or a bed for the night. Plus, at the higher echelons at least, they control who their members are allowed to marry and those who decide to go against these requirements are unceremoniously tossed out of their jobs. If you think that's a good group, there's something wrong with you.
Yeah, I know what you mean. I've given up pointing it out because I always get responses like this...Nope, if everyone was, the world would be a much better place so clearly that's not true. But when it comes to acting logically and rationally, religions and the religious certainly do not do so and there's nothing wrong with pointing out the fallacy in such positions. Stupid people deserve to have their stupidity pointed out to them.

So you talked to yourself. Great, thanks for the info.

I'd change my lean to 'slightly narcissistic non-believer'

Knock off the personal insults and get back on topic. This thread has nothing to do with churches. It has to do with whether schools are run mainly by liberals or not. If you can't stop doing either of these things you will be booted from the thread and/or infracted. |
