And what rights do you believe your dog should have, if we consider that the law already protects animals from cruelty?
The right to remain silent? The freedom of speech? Give me a break.
If you feel animals are too stupid to have any intrinsic worth in and of themselves and you see them as no different than a table, I suspect that any support you claim for anti-cruelty laws is a little manufactured because it's not based on anything. Without even a basic right to be be acknowledged as living feeling creatures you don't have a leg to stand on to claim that animal cruelty is of any concern to you.
