I collect dolls for myself, all by the same artist/craftsmen. They are a wide spectrum of gender, ethnicity, nationality and age. I see no gender issue in this.

Back wihen young children wanted Barbie Dolls (they are no longer the most popular), girls would have both Ken and Barbie. Thus bisexual? That's just nonsense.

So you expect women to be dressed to the nines? Perfectly coiffed hair, nails done, etc?

Screw that.

Why not? I like my women to be sexy.

girls dolled up are probably more likely to have that happen -so you are right.

Nope - our shooting here is all real.

I haven't gotten any reports of anyone named Barbie being whacked in Ohio though

If any of my kids, male or female, had a heart set on getting a Barbie doll, sure I would. Why not?

If we had one, it would be a target.

I have to tell the USPSA match director we need some Little Pony pop up targets

Assuming I was planning to buy him a gift (I would not just buy whatever my child asks me to buy them), sure, why not?

I have seen country girl tomboys who would blow your mind. Like I said, my mother was a straight from the country tomboy, but she was so pretty that people would be amazed. A couple of months ago she told me about what happened when she went to get her wedding dress. That was back in the days of segregation. So she went downtown to this upscale store that had several floors that normally whites shopped at. She said she saw the dress she wanted as soon as she went in. When she put it on she said, all of the ladies in the store stopped what they were doing, the sales people called the other workers down from the upper levels in the store to come an see how beautiful she looked in the dress. Actually she played basketball on the women's basketball team in college. I remember once she came out to throw the football with me. I told her, you can't throw a football. She laughed and took that football and threw it so far it blew my mind! That is the truth.

Neat story. :)

Must be because he inherited real-man genes. Or is there another reason?

No, he just enjoys shooting, the mechanical engineering of handguns, and their ability to protect the family, as it should be.

No, I probably wouldn't buy him the barbie doll. I'd indoctrinate him with the same gender stereotypes as everyone else's kids. Then I'd wait for the inevitable studies to be done, and if they reliably concluded that adults who didn't have gender stereotypes forced onto them as children consistently went on to become the world's greatest doers and thinkers, I'll say, "Huh, I guess I should have let the kid have the damn barbie doll after all."

 Yup!

I'm telling you. I took one on a picnic, just the two of us. We skipped rocks in the river, had a contest on who could "chunk" rocks the longest distance, climbed trees. It was some of the most fun I have had! Hell, I wish there were more of em! :lamo

Most people do. Most people want a girl who isn't afraid to get dirty. I told my husband from day one - I'm not a frou frou girl. If that's what you are looking for, then just keeping on looking. I can doll up when I need to, but most of the time, I'm more about the comfort than anything else. As long as he's good with that, that's all that matters to me. I've never been one to worry too much about what others think, anyway. :D

My Mom was a depression-era farm girl. She was something, lots of vigor and zest for life. Loved to swim more than almost anything, probably taught a hundred people or more. One day she'd be grubbing in her garden in shorts and a tank top and no shoes, then that evening she'd be dressed like a Hollywood premiere to go out with my Dad and his business partners. The next day she'd be barefoot again, climbing trees with her grandchildren (we finally got her to stop with the darn tree climbing when she was in her 70s, whew).
