Who are "they"?

They are related to them. "Them" were cursed throughout history, just as they were also cursed.

Ah yes, that clears it up.

No, the President self-identifies as "black," but his mother was Caucasian, and he is of mixed race.

Course many who self identify as white claim a single drop of negra blood means you is a negra...

The laws in the Dirty South said so, many folks still firmly believe it- so much for trying to make a black guy another race when it suits the whine. :peace

And the significance of this is...?

Greetings, Cardinal. :2wave:

After watching the video you posted, I have to admit that I was wrong about thinking only "tribes" vied for supremacy! We have had a long history of warlike behavior, haven't we, for whatever justification was given at the time. Seeing the civilizations fall, that were once great, you'd think we were slow learners if you were an alien race watching us from elsewhere in the galaxy! Sadly, they'd be correct in their evaluation of us! Thanks for a great post! *hug*

People have been killing each other in droves since the dawn of civilization.

But it is only OK when it is us that is doing the killing. That is what I see in this thread. Obama is not killing enough people and some are incensed by it.

And that video was just concentrated on a specific part of the Middle East. Now just imagine if it had encapsulated every region on earth over the past six thousand years.

...which makes him black; legally and practically.

Is the point that unless you have completely undiluted Sub-Saharan African ancestry, you're not really black? Nobody's exactly rushing in to clear this up for me.

Opposite. We have long held the 'one drop rule' which says if you have ANY black, you are black.

Mixed Race America - Who Is Black? One Nation's Definition | Jefferson's Blood | FRONTLINE | PBS

Imagine a person boarding a city bus in Memphis in 1957. If he sits if the front and no one thinks anything of it, he is white. If he told to sit in the back, he is black.

Its an ugly standard, but its the standard we have lived with in this country for most of its history. If you look black then you are black. There is no "half-black", except to racists that don't want to acknowledge that we have a black president.

Oh, give it a rest. And the "Dirty South"? You've just revealed far more about yourself than you probably should've.

I'm curious, Kobie, what you think the President should do.

Depends on the situation.

Regarding Yemen, I'm perfectly fine with the Saudis taking the steps to clean up their own back yard. They've been neck deep in all this garbage for a while, and it's about damn time they took care of the mess.

Regarding Boko Haram, that's a situation I think a small boots-on-the-ground presence could do wonders. These guys appear to be pretty bush league, and they could be disposed of without inciting a sectarian free-for-all.

Regarding ISIS in Syria and Iraq, that's something that we'll need a multinational coalition to deal with, including airstrikes, specops maneuvers and cooperation with "friendly" groups like the Kurds. However, the problem there is that once ISIS is gone, the next group of nutters is just going to take their place. That area is so rife with sectarian divides and religious fanaticism that I'm at a loss regarding how to pacify it. And regardless of Obama's proclamation that Iraq was "stable" or some of our conservative brethren's insistence that everything would be just fine and dandy if we still had 50,000 American troops standing atop that ****pile, that place was never stable and won't be for quite some time, American boots on the ground or no.

That said, I don't think the responsibility for all of this stuff falls on Obama alone. The guy is the President of the United States, not the chief of the World Police.

Here lies the problem "Four months ago, Obama called Yemen’s war on terror a success. Now the Yemeni government may fall."

You mean like Obama saying isis are the JV's. According to the death toll by Boko its increasing and spreading.

It was stable until Obama pulled all the troops out. Unlike Afghanistan where he is leaving troops to keep it stable.

Agree, but he has no leadership skills. Period.

He calls ISIS the JV squad, far from it.
He pulls troops out of Iraq and that allowed ISIS to move in. At the same time he and Biden called Iraq a great accomplishment for this administration.
He throws down the Red Line and Syria walks over it.
Putin tells Obama to jump and how high
He flip flopped on Iran with no this and that, now it's all OK this and that.
He calls Yemen a success story, far from it.
According to Obama there is no religious war, yet Islamic terrorist are singling out Christians and cutting heads off and Somali Militants separating Christian from Muslim students and killing the Christians, 147 in one pop.

I could go on but the point is there is no leadership or clarity from Obama on anything on foreign policy, hell even on domestic policies, like you can keep your doctor and you can keep your insurance etc BS . To make matters worse our allies have no clue what he is about. And our adversaries know he has no spine. And we now have the middle east in flames and Iran on the march, all the while Obama is giving Iran the green light to make nuks.

Greetings, Kobie. :2wave:

Not like we're seeing today, Kobie.

I'm gonna stop you right there. To this day, this has been the most peaceful time in recorded human history.

Except for Afghanistan, Syria, Libya, Kenya, The Philippines, Yemen, Iraq, Iran, Palestine, Israel, France, I'm probably missing something, excuse me.

With all the trouble spots around the world, how long can it last? All it took to start WW1 was one man shooting the Archduke of Austria-Hungary.

I say leave the locals to deal with ALL OF IT. If they need humanitarian or peace keeping assistance (once the fighting stops) - fine. Otherwise, let them fight it out.

NONE of it is America's business.

And all it is doing is making things MUCH worse.

Look what America has done in the Middle East?

She interfered in Iraq. Result? Iraq is a complete mess and is so weak that a pathetic group of about 10,000 troops with zero air power over ran half the country in a few weeks.

She interfered in Libya. Result? Libya is a complete mess and has turned into little more then a bunch of 'warlords' fighting for power.

She interfered in Afghanistan. Result? Afghanistan is (still) a complete mess and will probably revert back to Taliban control once America leaves completely.

And all these missions cost American lives, TONS of money America does not have and only made the Middle East/Afghanistan more unstable.

'Mission Accomplished' ???

How in the hell did all these crappy posts about Obama not being Kenyan and Obama being born in America make their way into this thread? "slaughtering Kenyans" in the OP doesn't mean Obama is Kenyan. Does anyone actually read a newspaper or pay attention to what's going on in the world before coming on this board and spewing knee jerk garbage?

To the OP. Of course Obama can defend the people. The question is, what is his idea of "defend", and how far is he willing to go?
