Ellen- Best darn comedian around.
Day in, day out, she makes you laugh.
And without all the cash hoopla of Oprah.

Eh....Lewis Black, John Stewart, Danial Tosh, heck, even Conan O'Brian....or that british guy from John Stewart...he's pretty funny too.

OK- But day in day out, on TV. She is a wrap.

I just don't find most of what she has to say funny in the least, sorry.

Ellen is definitely the funniest day time television host out there. As far as stand up comedians go I can think of several that I think are funnier. However, I can't think of any "family friendly" standup comedians that are funnier.

Nothing wrong with that. We all have a differing sense of humor. And hats of to you Sir for an honest reply.

There are so many comedians better than Ellen. Daniel Tosh, Lewis Black, Louis CK, Jim Norton, Joe Rogan, Dave Attell, Christopher Titus, etc. Too many to list really. Ellen is pretty far down my list of funny comedians.

Steve Harvey, Family Feud > Ellen.

Stay-at-home parents, people who work B or C shift, retirees ...

I have never seen anything funny about her. Most of today's sitcoms are not funny to me. But that could be because of age. I always liked Bob Hope, Abbot and Costello, Jack Benny, Red Skelton, even the three stoogies and of course Lucile Ball.

I think the last modern sitcom I watched and enjoyed was Barney Miller.

Apparently enough watch it for Ellen to earn $70 million a year.

I don't think she is the best comedian out there. However, she is funny, her humor is clean, and she is always very nice. Above all I think she is a genuinely nice person.

If she was gone tomorrow can't say I would miss her. Don't care for her show or others like them. Iwatched a couple of episodes of her latest venture on HGTV and didn't find them entertaining either.

No.
Louis C K, John Oliver, Lewis Black, or Hannibal Buress.

This. I can't think of anyone more likeable than Ellen, and I've always enjoyed watching her (although I don't watch daytime tv, so haven't seen her newest show). Other comedians are funnier, in my view, and some (like Ron White) have been known to make me practically wet myself! Still she's a great person, and wonderful comedian, and did a really outstanding job hosting the Oscars... unlike too many others, who've laid bowling-ball sized eggs in their Oscar hosting efforts!

No, she is definitely not the funniest comedian. To me Billy Connolly aka The Big Yin.

All the great Comedians like Hope, Benny, Abbot and Constello are are gone...Nowadays there are no great comics sadly.

A black comedian by the name of George Wallace is the funniest man I've ever known. Haven't seen him perform in a while so I hope he's well.

I liked your post even though it makes me feel like a corpse.

MY ANSWER (once again, the narrow view of the pollster limits his ability to know others' answers): Other

My explanation: There is no ONE comedian that is the best. There is only one of the best.

It depends on the routine and the mood I'm in.

Jon Stewart is one of the funniest. So is Ellen. So is TINA FEY(though she's not a standup comedian). So is SARAH SILVERMAN. So is Carol Burnett. Stephen Colbert hands down one of the most gifted comedians these days. David Letterman is still one of the best....a natural, as they say. And let's not forget Roseanne Barr. She's not funny, anymore. But she started as a standup and was hysterical in those days. So was JOAN RIVERS. Some of you may be too young to remember some of these guys in their early days.

It's because of Phyllis Diller, Joan Rivers, Lucille Ball, Carol Burnett and others that it's possible for an Ellen or Tina or Sarah to exist.

Some of the other "one of the best" have passed on: George Carlin, Robin Williams.

LOL, I recently bought Groucho Marx DVD of You Bet your Life. I laughed my butt off. I have some of Jack Benny and his old TV show. How about Jackie Glessen and the Honey Mooners? There was Dobbie Gillis and Phil Silvers.

Now those were good comedies that made you laugh.

1- Robin Williams
2- Steve Martin
3- Groucho Marx
4- Ernie Kovacs
5 - Jackie Gleason

Judy Holliday was a great comic actress. Belushi was terrific but died so young. Chevy Chase was terrific for about 15 years then lost it. Roseanne Barr in standup was funny but her show was preachy.

I love Jerry Seinfelds TV show but caught his act live and was not at all impressed. Never cared for Elen.
