Jeb Bush used his private e-mail account as Florida governor to discuss security and military issues such as troop deployments to the Middle East and the protection of nuclear plants, according to a review of publicly released records.
The e-mails include two series of exchanges involving details of Florida National Guard troop deployments after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, the review by The Washington Post found.
Aides to Bush said Saturday that none of the e-mails contained sensitive or classified information, and that many of the events mentioned in them were documented in press accounts, either contemporaneously or later. But security experts say private e-mail systems such as the one used by Bush are more vulnerable to hackers, and that details such as troop movements could be exploited by enemies.

Jeb Bush stated he turned over all his emails - AFTER he deleted those he didn't want anyone to see claiming they were personal and had nothing to do with government business - the same answer as Hillary Clinton.

 I don't know whether Florida State Law requires the same handing-over process as what is required of Hillary. If so, then it would be indeed pretty much the same story. Do you know if it is?

SoS private Email accounts while under investigation by a oversight committee and Jeb Bush's situation are ofcourse quite different.

But if he broke the law then he should have to face the consequences

I'm not a fan of either candidate.

As I've stated before, if he didn't break a law, he should have. This practice is unacceptable and needs to be illegal.

Otherwise, how can we vote in your poll? I mean, without an investigation concluding that he lied, how can we know that he did. If you'd like to ask me if I think he lied, I could answer that. I didn't vote.

No, Florida law does not, so it is a question of truthfulness more than criminality. However, it could seriously violate federal law if he was released confidential or national security secrets in unsecure ways.

A Democrat gets caught red handed, and it's all "....but look at these REPUBLICANS!"

I mean really...

At this point...

What does it even matter?

Is there a problem with making sure that government officials in both parties are issued .gov accounts, required to conduct all official business on them, and prosecuted when they fail? Does everything have to be partisan?

The cacophony in the last few years over Benghazi rising from the Right has been drowned out by the high pitched whine from the Left that there is no controversy. So now that there is yet another piece in the tapestry that points to some potentially damaging information..... it's actually a witch hunt, nothing to see here folks. Hilary is clean, so STOP LOOKING.

HERE, LOOK AT THIS OVER HERE.

LOOK AT JEB. OR LITERALLY ANYONE ELSE.

Well that's not what I'm saying!!!!! I want to see a subpoena issued on Hillary and an independent party looking at all of her e-mails and deciding which ones need scrutiny and archiving. And then I want somebody to do the same with Jeb. I also hope that Gowdy's team is able to locate any wrong doing with regards to Benghazi, if there is anything beyond the CIA running arms confiscated from Gaddafi's army out of the Benghazi annex and through Turkey to the terrorist groups operating inside Syria attempting to overthrow president Assad.

who gives a ****? i don't want to read his emails any more than Hillary's.

I doubt it. I doubt any politician who says they turned everything over.

I think we had better get the Internet security thing straightened out. Obviously our government has quite a problem.

Govt officials, elected or working in the public service should not be permitted to have private accounts for any type of govt business. This should be a federal law covering the States as well.
Private email accounts to be registered with the Govt. Severe penalties, as the US does like min sentences, 1 year in jail to start. Significant fines should also be used. With hacking by other Govts they are placing the security of the US at risk.
They are also avoiding FOIA in a way that needs to be addressed.
Perhaps Congress with a majority in both houses should address this security issue? Any bets Obama would sign it, as he is really not a fan of Hillary.
This laxity in securing Govt communications is beyond belief and misused by all parties.
Far to may loopholes, large enough to drive a tractor trailer thru sideways.

The CIA can be thought of as the intelligence and paramilitary arm of the State Department. Guess where Heads of Station take up residence?

...and who was head of the State Department during that time... ?

2001??? What rules were there regarding state email in Florida in 2001?

Is government transparency not important to you?

media manufactured scandals aren't. this is a response to the Benghazi CTers' fake outrage about Hillary's private email nonsense.

if i want to be outraged about something, it's probably going to be that our gerrymandered duopoly is trying to sell us another Bush v Clinton election.

Hillary, what's your point?

Hillary, what's your point?

My point is the two incidents are inextricably related.

When you bring up Jeb, it looks like you're deflecting from Hilary.

When you talk about the CIA and smuggling weapons to Syria, it also looks like you're deflecting from Hilary. I just find it a little odd that this particular red herring also happens to be linked to Hilary and likely the missing emails as well.

No! You misunderstand. I realize you have to deal mostly with partisans, and that's how they operate. Of course these two incidents are related. Of course Hillary should be prosecuted if Gowdy can prove she failed and covered up, broke the law in any fashion. Do you realise the weapons smuggling the CIA was doing is the reason why the attack that claimed four American lives even happened?

As to Bush, again, if what he did isn't illegal, it should be. I'm not suggesting he should be retro punished. But all government employees should be issued .gov addresses, required to use them for all official business and prosecuted when they don't. I don't care what party they are. That's unlike the 80% or more DP posters here that are died in the wool partisans that are forever covering for their own party and hypocritically pointing to the crimes of the opposition party. Such is the idiocy of our two parties.

I didn't know one of them was a republican. ;)

Jeb says he doesn't see what the problem with NSA spying is. If this guy gets elected it's time to start over.

I'm not a Republican by any means, but I feel like I am constantly defending Republicans from horrendous Democrat arguments. Generally speaking, the Republicans do a good enough job shooting themselves in the foot. But in this case, it would be awesome if the full force of the law came down on Hilary's head which would SET THE PRECEDENT and then people like Jeb can get thrown under the bus when it's their turn. And it's so clear to anyone paying attention that she's dirtier than a $2 hooker. If this is wrong, and illegal, this may be the time something finally gets done!

It's just not Jeb's turn. Not yet. His day will come. The Clinton's, though, have been playing dirty politics for their entire lives and somehow dodging scandal after scandal after scandal. By all rights, Hilary should have been locked up in the 90's along with her husband. Lewinsky. Flowers. Starr. Perdue. Gracen. Jones. Campbell. Paul. Foster. Whitewater. China's contributions to the DNC. Waco. The list goes on, and on, and on...

We're talking about Hilary right now. Forget Jeb. If this turns out to be something we can hold over our benevolent rulers' heads, rest assured everyone else is in line for the guillotine as well. Hilary first though.
