Photo of baby in American flag shrouded in controversy

Is this photo considered offensive to you?

Clearly, it violates US Flag Code, but does it bother you that it does?

(if this has already been mentioned somewhere else on the board, you can merge the topics, but I couldn't find it)

I don't see any disrespect in that whatsoever. If anything I see exactly the opposite.

Offended? No. Consider it seriously inappropriate? Yes. Worth making a big deal over? Not really.

I am very particular about how the flag is displayed and handled. But I see no issue with this.

I'm sure that Obama was offended that some Americanism might rub off on the baby....

No.

It's a flag

She's actually showing love of nation, albiet against flag code so who cares?

The flag code is a blatantly unconstitutional law which is why no one has ever been prosecuted by it.

I would say that using an actual us flag and not like a us flag blanket is a bit disrespectful but it certainly their right to do it.

Taboos about the treatment of common manufactured objects are silly and seem primitive. Symbols are symbols, not the thing that is symbolized.

I'm wondering why a soldier would be violating the flag code? Or, is it somebody dressed as a soldier, unaware of the code or indifferent to it. At any rate, the photo doesn't offend me.

Well I'll be damned....we see eye to eye on something, are the five horsemen of the Apocalypse saddling up their horses?

I'd say it's rather symbolic....our military protecting the most innocent among us.

I am.... not sure what difference is

Offended: Resentful or annoyed
Inappropriate: not proper

I am not bothered by it, but I would not do it as I don't consider using the flag as a prop the right thing to do.

actually, it's code, not law i believe.

The man in fatigues fought for the right to use the flag anyway he wants.

I'm quite surprised with you and that comment??!!

How exactly is it inappropriate?

It's a beautiful picture, I'm not offended.

Negative. His/her service his means nothing in the context of proper flag etiquette.

He served to protect our freedom...and that includes using the flag for whatever.
