Its meant to be a zero sum, bottom line question.

I don't identify enough with either ideology to cast a vote either way; I generally dislike conservatism more but more often than not wind up feeling every person who has ever existed is evil and that ideology is them showing their most evil side: unrelentingly hypocritical, unfailingly self-serving and self-congratulatory, and all round conceited.

In my better moments, I try to tell myself no one is evil.

Rotgut gives you an evil hangover.

No....

Is this a serious question???

Why wouldn't it be? Liberals and conservatives constantly talk about their opposition as though that opposition was evil, even if not all of them use that exact word.

Because I don't expect anyone who is not completely extreme on either end of the political spectrum would to believe that other people are evil based on their political ideology?

People are more nuanced than just left or right, and the qualities required to be determine if someone as evil are different from the qualities used to determine ones political leaning.

I guess I would say that a lot of people believe that certain ideologies, when taken to their furthest extremes, are inherently evil.

Anyone who thinks that all members of any group are evil based upon the actions of some members of that group is a bigot.

Does anyone disagree with that?

Now that we've put this BS out of the way maybe we can move on to some important issues.

There are positions other than just liberal or conservative, can't vote. Anyway, neither of those two are evil. Both ideologies are right at times and wrong at times. EVIL??????????

Only a Sith deals in absolutes.

While I wholeheartedly agree ... good luck, man.

You are either with me or against me!!! :lamo

I don't identify with the current "platform" of the Democrats, but I could be considered a progressive liberal on the basis of the ethical groundwork from which I build my stances.

I voted liberal, conservatives aren't evil.

I think real evil is a rather deeper quality that few people actually have, and doesn't rely on politics.

Yup. But such extreme people do exist. Take a look at the poll...

Unfortunately, I'm not surprised. We've seen several threads calling an entire political group evil, just in the past couple weeks. The state of American political discourse is abysmal.

Anyone who subscribes to the universe revolving around this political duality is insane, or stupid, or both.

y u maek anonymous poll

I voted to ban you for not making it possible to vote for every poll option at once.

I am a 'what is right' and find that no one ideology or political leaning has all the answers. Not sure how to vote.

There are many on both sides of the partisan coin who broad brush the other side as evil based. Yes, I'd say those people are bigots, but I'd also say they're childish imbeciles too.

Some liberals are evil. Some conservatives are evil. The evilness is unrelated to their political ideology in most cases.

Evil? :doh

As in the biblical evil?

I don't identify as either a liberal or conservative - but I also don't think anyone is actually "evil", with a few noted exceptions.

Conservatives are evil.

There. I've said it and I mean it.

The major forces behind conservatism as it exists in America today are willful ignorance and malice. Conservatism demands of its adherents a willingness to accept all manner of injustices without anything beyond a cursory consideration of their causes and further demands a willingness to punish those who aren't part of the mainstream. Witness conservatism's rejection of any attempt to alleviate the pain of the poor who suffer without healthcare and the emotional distress of social outcasts such as gays and lesbians.

Americans never can call themselves civilized as long as they allow conservatism to exist.

Glad you got that off your chest and I hope you feel better now. Maybe we should consider making this a daily session of sorts...

Kobie, my partner on the other side of the coin! :)

No, liberals are not evil, but some of the things they promote are.
Of course, the same can be said for some of the stupid things that some conservatives promote as well.

Guess that makes me more a centrist of some sort.
