Do we need a war-hawk as the next President?

I think we need someone who will roll up there sleeves and deal with Russia, Ukraine, the Mid-East, ISIS and North Africa. Each one of these areas plus a few other issues like Domestic Terrorism in Europe are some of Obama's failures. Foreign Policy used to be his strong suit. Not anymore!

How many of you agree with me that we need a war-hawk as President? And no. I am not talking about Hillary.

On a scale of one to ten, I agree with you somewhere in the negative 5 range.

I don't know if we need a war hawk, but we do need someone who will garner respect from the international community, and can help rally them around a common cause.

Havent we had enough of Obama? Do we want another 8 years of a President that continually prosecutes air wars and killings by drones?

I'm not too surprised there.:2wave:

Excellent. Of your list I don't see Russia, Ukraine, the Mid-East, ISIS, North Africa or Domestic Terrorism in Europe as our problems except to the extent that some people are more susceptible than others to the military industrial complex's propaganda machine that keeps us meddling in other people's business for profit when we have more pressing problems at home that we should be spending money on.

Oh yeah.....force respect by war...Good idea. You mean to tell me the world doesn't respect us for torturing people? For having the largest amount of people being incarcerated? For having the highest cost for healthcare? For having the most obese citizens in the world? For having the most school shootings?

WTF are you babbling on about?

No way. A war-hawk is the last thing we need for 2016. After nearly a century of perpetual war, it's about damn time we bring our boys home and stop nitpicking fights overseas.

A War-Hawk for 2016

not only no, but **** no.

also, i have a proposal. back in the middle ages, the king and noblemen led the troops into battle. perhaps we should return to that way of doing things. also, wartime tax rates should be in effect whenever we are at war.

Obama will be gone in 2017 because of the Twenty-second Amendment(Unless the GOP congress amends that to keep him.).

It looks like Hillary Clinton will be the next president.I don't believe that I've ever heard her described as a War-Hawk.

Neither Churchill or Roosevelt wanted WWII, but they both did a good job leading their countries through it.

Did you hear Obama described as a War Hawk? Do you think he is who the Nobel people had in mind when they gave him their prize for the good fortune of being black and elected?

Did Obama invade any countries the day after he moved into the White House?

I don't recall that happening.

Obama carried out the Bush policies and massively expanded the use of drone strikes. Against the expressed will of his party and without seeking approval he has prosecuted an air war against ISIS (Something I approve of BTW). Forget about the expansion of intrusions into personal privacy in the name of national security.

He didn't invade, but he is responsible for the mess that is Libya. Plus he has killed a lot of people in that "success story" that is Yemen to have no role in the collapse of that nation. If you toss Syria and Iraq into the mix, the ME is certainly in far worse shape than it was when he took office. Now, I am not sure what a 'war hawk' is other than a slur against people the OP disagrees with, but leading from behind hasn't worked out so well.

That's funny, I don't ever remember FP being Obama's strong point. And no, the very last thing we need is more warmongers running things. The polling to your question is encouraging.

I can't take anyone seriously who actually says "bring our boys home". This isn't World War Two where you had a bunch of 16 year olds fighting or Vietnam where you had a bunch of 18 year olds.

The average age of soldiers who died in Iraq was 30. Certainly not "boys". And all volunteers who presumably WANT to be in the military.

That is exactly correct as I see it.

"Deal with" meaning launch shooting wars against Russia, Iran, and anyone else causing trouble in the world all at the same time?

No, I'd rather see a rational person in the White House, whether or not I agree with all of his/her policies.

Did the U.S. congress take any action on the AUMF against ISIS/ISIL that Obama asked for?

Um, she's actually worse than many Republicans in that regard.

They just got it like yesterday or the day before, didn't they?

And rationing. Don't forget the rationing. I say that whenever we are at war, internet speeds need to be throttled to dial-up levels. Shared sacrifice and all that.

What a rational comment too!!!!
