Now, I think most people on both sides of the immigration debate can agree that undocumented immigrants should largely be ineligible for government benefits. But, how many people take the hardline on this? Would you consider emergency benefits to be an exception? For example, if an undocumented immigrant were to be shot or otherwise fatally wounded, would you support financial help to ensure they do not die?

Ronald Reagan signed a bill into law guarunteeing all persons in the USA have the right to be treated for all emergency medical conditions.

I understand. I wasn't asking if it was legal or not, I was asking people's opinion on that. There's quite a few nutters out there I reckon would let them die.

Exactly what it sounds like. An immigrant with no legal citizenship documents.

Illegal aliens are NOT immigrants, period. And we should stabilize them medically and deport. Longer term treatment is up to the host country.

I have no obligation towards anyone. If you ask me your whole line of reasoning is flawed.

An immigrant is someone who travels to another country....

an illegal alien is a person who enters the US by subverting the immigration laws, and it is a felony.

people who travel to america on a work visa, or other US document, and over stay their welcome here is not a felony, however it is unlawful.

I may be 100% wrong, but I believe crossing the border illegally and staying in the USA is a misdemeanor.

no its a felony, i have researched this question because i have dealt with it several times on the forum.

Can you please provide a link to the Federal law?

Thanks.

i will search for the correct link i have used before, there is a lot of misinformation on the web, about entering the US illegally.

the reason which makes it a crime is because someone knowing subverting the law.

the term is illegal alien, based on the 1924 law, which uses that term for a person who enters the US illegally by going around the illegal process.

You know, there is more than one word for things, don't you?

reading US law can be long and slow, but i am going on memory, a person who is not an american is an alien, and those who seek to enter without proper documents are illegal aliens, all other aliens that enter on government documents, are classified as "non-immigrant"

Not really. He knows tourists are not part of the discussion at hand. We are talking about people who travel here and live here. But, as usual, clownboy loves to erect his strawmen. And you love to cheer him on.
