Does Jeb Bush Have a Schiavo Problem?

Yes, his solution will be drivers licenses for illegals, colossal fail.

His solution to the illegals problem will be far broader and more comprehensive than drivers licenses - that's a minor detail, not a policy solution to a problem that has plagued US government and politicians since it was partially addressed in the 80's and exasperated after 9/11.

At the risk of getting too off topic....do you have any independents in mind?

The other Texas Perry, Dunham and Sanders. But let's leave it at that for here, I'd gladly discuss it with you if you feel the urge to topic a thread with it though.

Oh sure, he'll do more for them than that, some I'm sure that I'd have no issue with and some that I'd oppose.

If their brains are gone they are already dead. You wish to preserve their lifeless bodies because?

Lets crank up the machines. Hell...IMAGINE the resources we could save if we get rid of all the inconvenient folk out there.

Jeb's biggest problem is that people won't vote for him because his brother was an epic fail president.

She was effectively brain dead. Her brain had atrophied to the size of a walnut.

This is a normal brain on the right with Shiavo's brain on the left:

For all intents and purposes that woman was dead long before they pulled that feeding tube. She was a shell being kept functioning by life support. She was an adult and thus her husband at the time of her injury was the one whom society tasks to act in her medical interest. If she wanted her parents to make those kinds of decisions then she could have given her parents power of attorney when she was a health adult. However, she didn't because hardly anyone would want their parents to make such a decision. All of us who are married leave those decisions to our spouse. Now you can belittle her former husband all you want, but its irrelevant to the case.

Actually its EXTRAORDINARILY relevant to the case. There are a lot of people that are in her position or worse. She had parents that were willing to love her and care for her. She contributed to a quality of life. To the husband...she was merely inconvenient.

Pick an argument and stick with it. Is your argument about eliminating the brain dead or are you really twisted because Jeb Bush intervened between a husband and a family?

People are taken off life support every day and without drama. It's not like letting dead people die is news.

Perhaps the parents should have consulted a taxidermist. She would have been just as "useful" stuffed. The idea that the brain dead should be kept "alive" to humor grieving relatives is frightening and horribly wrong on so many levels. Don't you believe in heaven too?

That's true of some, but your suggesting that because of that, there's a significant number of conservatives that would pull the lever for Hillary, when they largely believe her husband was an epic failure and that she lied us into a war??

Hillary does not need the Conservative vote to win easily. Jeb will fail with independents because of his family legacy though. He is already sounding just like his brother on foreign policy.

Oh, I don't know. With each passing day of the BHO administration GWB looks better and better.

What exactly is looking better? His decision to invade Iraq? His housing bubble or is it his financial collapse and the Great Recession that followed?

Oh well, I hate all that second guessing business, I just don't wish for either of them to occupy the WH. And I'm very, very discouraged that America would allow either of those families back in there, really!

I'd also prefer to see some new blood, but I personally would never not vote for someone because of his/her last name. Even if that last name was Kennedy. It's all about who is the right person to lead this country, but then again, people admit to voting for candidates for the stupidest reasons I can't even imagine.

GWB handed off a victory in Iraq. BHO threw it away. Unemployment under BHO has only in recent months achieved what was the average level under GWB.

His last name is only a problem among people who would never have voted for him anyway.

GW Bush left office with an approval of 22%. I think that may mean a lot of people regretted voting for him and won't make the same mistake again. Clinton left office with a RECORD 66% approval so Hillary won't have the same problem.

Come on now, surely you're not accusing me of that. Perhaps you've been preoccupied with other topics and missed my policy criticisms of both Bush's and both Clintons.

Right...just like its not like people like you actually give a **** about it. As long as you have the opportunity to attack a republican...well...they are all just convenient excuses.

I wasn't talking about you when I said that. Not sure why you think I was?

A vote is your sacred franchise, I suppose to the one casting it, it's never stupid. And there's lots of single issue voters.

I voted for GW Bush twice and while I was disappointed in him, I don't regret voting for him.

I also know a vote for his brother wouldn't mean another vote for him, just like I didn't think I was voting for his father again, as I had in 1988, when I voted for him.

If people are stupid enough to vote for Hillary because they think they're casting a 3rd vote for her husband, then that's just pathetic, but no surprise actually. The number of clueless voters in this country shouldn't surprise anyone.
