How long for Harry Reid?
He's still around? He must have gotten a waiver from Obama.
How long for Harry Reid?
Oh, I'm sure there will be, but I don't think the issue will "click". Not in a large sense, anyway. You don't think there will be some TV ads helping the average American voter remember?
Good morning, CJ. :2wave:
Obama is helping the best way he can by giving millions of illegals drivers licenses and job cards, thereby giving them an ID to vote Democrat! Oh wait - maybe he won't much care how they vote in 2016 since he'll be leaving, but I truly pity whoever it is that inherits what he's going to leave them, and it doesn't matter what party they are. He doesn't like the Clintons, and he's called the Rebs his "enemies," so that may be a win either way in his book. The downside will be having to lower the standard of living he has enjoyed for the past six years, which includes having to start paying for his own multi-million dollar vacations though, and that's going to be really tough on his family budget.
I heard he was a very popular governor in Florida. I admit I don't know too much about him, and recently I've been starting to pay a little more attention to his record, and less to his last name. He's supposed to start appearing a lot in NH soon and I'm going to have the chance to meet him. Look forward to it.

don't get too excited
i predict Michelle will be running for political office on or before 2020
she's smart and now has an extensive political network
unlike hillary, i would vote for Michelle in a skinny minute
What's the success rate of wives of successful husbands running for office in the US? I'm only familiar with a couple on the Republican side - Dole had a cup of coffee in the Senate and Bono in the House, and I know many wanted Laura Bush to run for office but she smartly declined. Any on the Democrat side besides the carpetbagging Clintons?
That is of course, other than the part where he had the legislature throw together a crappy Lonaday, declared himself the guardian of someone you never met and then send state troopers in defiance of the superior court order remove the feeding tube
Other then that his social conservatism is all personal
I'm sorta confused why its bad when a democrat does it and ignored when a republican does it. And this one could be president too!
TALLAHASSEE - Gov. Jeb Bush on Monday strongly endorsed issuing state
driver's licenses to illegal immigrants... Hundreds of thousands of
people could be affected by the proposal, which is currently making
its way through the Florida Legislature. Sen. Rudy Garcia, a Hialeah
Republican pushing the measure in the Senate, says it would enable
those stuck in immigration limbo to drive with valid licenses and get
insurance while they work to become citizens. "Our roads and streets
will be safer because of this," Garcia said...

I'd say the difference, perhaps minor to some, is that it is a State taking action affecting only that one State and it was a popular move in the State at the time. That's different from an imposition from the Federal level that affects all States whether they want it or not.
ditto for travelgate
whitewater and the connection to those convicted
throw in when she knew bill lied to the public about monica and what she then did ... or didn't do
we're in a for a really dirty campaign - in both directions

Sorry, by one foul swoop, or state by state, I don't want illegals getting drivers licenses. That's the most overt tempt I've ever seen from you to diminish the results of a right winger doing the same thing as a left winger. And this guy could be Americas next president, and he favours giving illegals drivers licenses. Colossal fail CJ!
He also favor a path to citizenship for illegals and you will either vote for him or stay home. Either way Hillary wins easily.

All anyone in politics can ask for is a fair hearing, the closer to the voters the better. Filtered through the media, you have a hard time picking out what's real and what's not. I know he's not polling at the top in NH yet, but I think the Bush team has a lot of faithful campaign volunteers there from past runs and I think the Romney people will for the most part side with Bush so once things get rolling I'm hopeful he'll do well. If he happens to win NH, he might just roll - I doubt he can win Iowa, so someone is going to get attention out of Iowa other than him.
Will be fun - at least on the Republican side there are some serious, sane, competent choices to make it interesting.
Sorry to disappoint you - I wasn't speaking to the actual policy decision as much as I was speaking to the circumstances. There are many things that a State Governor may do at the behest of his constituents that wouldn't translate to the Federal level.

It's also no secret that Jeb Bush is far more "moderate" when it comes to finding solutions for the "illegals" problem in the US than many in his party are. You see, people like Jeb Bush and his brother, who have been Governors of States like Florida and Texas, have a keen understanding of the illegals issues in their states. GW tried unsuccessfully to find a solution when President and I'm sure Jeb will also try to find a solution when he's President.
It's a very contentious issue and anyone who attempts to address it is going to uncover new enemies regardless of what side he/she takes. But it's an issue that's not going to solve itself.
I've only voted for an establishment candidate once. And I regret that. It would tickle me to see the independents, who out number either party alone, join together and elect an independent candidate and force the elephant and the ass to set one out and see if that didn't get their attention. Seriously, I can't believe that there aren't more people that would like to see that play.
Yes, his solution will be drivers licenses for illegals, colossal fail.
I think you and Grant are to the right of the right most American poster at DP. Are there many of you guys up there?
Like a healthcare plan *cough cough*.
I don't know that I'm to the right of many people who call themselves conservatives on DP. I'm a Canadian conservative - we're fiscally conservative and socially liberal or more accurately libertarian. We have an old saying - "keep the government out of our wallets and out of our bedrooms". We also believe strongly in personal responsibility, and so we believe strongly in personal choice or to use an American term, we're pro-choice - but not solely in the abortion sense. We generally believe in people having the freedom to make their own life choices, even if we hate those choices.
I could argue that there are many on the left and right who are far more socially dictatorial than I am and who are less receptive to free choice unless it is the choice they favour.
Jeb would be a formidable candidate.
