According to (that is where I read it first) a Dutch Newspaper, who got their report from US sources, John Stewart in his show that was taped earlier today, announced that he was quitting the Daily Show.

We still have to wait if it is true but wow, what a news story for all the news story reporters.

Big Jon Stewart fan here, but is this really as big of an issue as everyone is making it out to be? Does any rational and informed person really think that someone as popular and well-known as Mr. Stewart will just drop off the face of the earth and never again wield his gift for political satire? Please. Give me a break.

I voted twice (it is a multiple vote for a specific reason) the first one is that some republican candidates are feeling better that John Stewart might not be grilling them in an almost daily show. The second people who will be happy are his fellow news reporters. I think especially the ones living on what John so lovingly calls bull**** mountain ;)

But I also voted "other, namely......" and the other is that I will find it a very sad day. I loved the Daily Show with John Stewart, I loved the Colbert Report and I have already had to say bye bye to Stephen Colbert (esq. MD., etc.) and his unique brand of funny skewering of the news. But now we will have to say goodbye to John Stewart too. Nobody can play a Frenchman like he can

Nothing will be the effect, someone else will surely take the lead at doing the same thing John Stewart does now. We might as well ask what will happen if Limbaugh or Beck quit their shows. Again, nothing. Someone else will fill the void assuming there is money to be made from the business model.

His show was getting stale. Good decision.
