<snip></unsnip>All i have to say re: the OP is it's a damn good thing cheyney and bush II aren't in charge here now
`
The neocon, Bush III, is in charge now and as the war monger-in-chief, he has never seen a potential for US military involvement he doesn't like.

Bush II wouldn't have waited for prodding by right wing warhawks, before fully committing to a trillion dollar ten year invasion of a *non aggressor* and declaring victory after only a few days.

Russia is being barbaric now, and some kind of response is warranted, like it or not, else you wouldn't see this last ditch effort by the french/germans to avoid getting involved themselves. Even sweden is talking of reviving their "selective service" after recent russian aggression in the baltic

Whenever the corporately owned news sources start banging on the war drum with images of a supposedly "barbaric" enemy trying to subvert democracy and capitalism, it sounds a loud warning bell with me that someone here is lying through their teeth.

This conflict was caused by NATO, the US and the EU attempting to expand into the Ukraine. While I may not agree with Putin on many things, as a head of state, he has every right to feel threatened by this expansion so close to his border. Analysis: NATO expansion at heart of Ukraine crisis.

from your own link: "when a new pro-western government took power in ukraine"

that hardly necessitates or excuses war leading to 5000 deaths, which a russian general took credit for instigating. It is certainly not an act of self defense, not even close.

btw, i couldn't give a rat's ass about democracy or capitalism. It's the needless aggression that stands out

If needless aggression is your call to arms, why aren't you outraged and ready to send in a military response to the Boko Haram's massacres in Nigeria? I detect Class A hypocrisy here.

because they do not have WMDs controlled by an insane dictator, that i'm aware of? Also because there is severe persecution of minorities in nigeria, so i could not care less what happens to the majority.

So call it cultural bias (even though i've met more nigerians than ukranians), call it not giving a **** about the fate of bigots, whatever you like. It's not my motivations that matter if/when WWIII takes off, and it won't be precipitated by events in nigeria

i didn't say the US should get involved militarily either. I said it's *not the same* as iraq

1) The US, UK, France, Germany, etc, all have WMD's. Does that mean they're going to use them in every conflict they're in? No and the same applies to Russia. Putin is hardly insane...he may be crazy but crazy like a fox.

2) So you say you are culturally biased. Black lives in Africa are of much less value than white European lives. Gotcha.

3) The invasion of Iraq was immoral and by many international standards, illegal as it was based on lies.

4) Only the war mongering ideologues are saying events in the Ukraine could lead to WW III.

1) He just made the biggest blatant land grab in europe since 1939. He's a monster and i won't put anything past him

2) no, the lives of *bigots who persecute minorities* are less valuable. There are plenty of those in ukraine too, but not 98% like in nigeria

3) i don't disagree, and it only proves my point that obama's military actions and attempts to justify them are not the same

4) lol what? i don't want war anywhere, but you can't even admit it's more likely to cause a major conflict than events in nigeria

5) i'm bored with this now, moving on. Do not interpret lack of response to strawmans as agreement

`
Not to worry. I will see your lack of response as running out of far fetched rationalizations for war.
