Lt. General William Boykin made the following statement

NBC News broadcast videotapes of General Boykin, an evangelical Christian, giving a number of speeches while wearing his military uniform at religious functions around the country.

In one speech, the general recalled a Muslim fighter in Somalia who said American forces would never get him because Allah would give him protection.

''Well, you know what I knew -- that my God was bigger than his,'' General Boykin told his audience. ''I knew that my God was a real God, and his was an idol.''

Do you agree with his statement?

I wish religious people would leave all the fighting to their imaginary friends. That way the violence would be imaginary.

He's no diplomat, and let's hope he no longer has command of any troops either.

I think it unwise to depend on your God, when you are in battle.

He and half of the Republicans in congress should call it a day.

You're like Lucy holding the football for Charlie Brown.

Since you like polls so much, why not cut to the chase and create one that reads

I hate religious people. Do you agree with me, yes or no.

It would certainly make your "ready to pounce" attempts here more efficient.

Do you object to it? Many of the best of our leaders were sustained by a faith in a loving God. While I am not a believe I do like it myself.

No, because I was under the impression that both religions revered the same God.
The Muslims got the word on God from their prophet Mohammed and the Christians
got the word on God from the prophet Jesus. Both referenced the God of the "Old Books."
Those of us who got the word on God from Julio, the homeless wino from Utah, are
also referenced to the God of the "Old Books." As for them dastardly heathens what
got no God, they can take up residence outside the concrete block walls around a
Catholic heaven, because they is the onliest ones in their heaven. You did not state
whether or not the General got paid for that speech. Probably that Full Specrtrum
Dominance reaching into every nook and cranny and malleable minds, eh? The homeless
wino from Utah said the God was one BillyBob and for artistic and sensitive hearts and
minds, that got a lot better ring to it than Allah, YHWH, etc., especially since they be
different names for the same dude or dudette, don't you think?

Anyone who does is likely to go home in a box.

God won't be able to help you if you have wet powder.

Has General Boykin beheaded any children in the name of God?

Yep. That's just the type of stuff I am talking about. Now I hate religious people. Damn that is so whack that it is beyond whack.

Like I said in another thread, I was out of my mind to consider voting Republican. What in the hell was I thinking?

Do you look for an excuse to vote for tyrants in every thread?

Excuse my ass.

Interesting.

It is said that Jesus forgave people that nailed his hands and feet to a cross, put a crown of thorns on his head, and stuck a sword in his side. However, when he saw people using the Temple of God to make money he became very, very angry and started kicking butt.

Do you believe that is the essential lesson? Was it because the merchants were making money or was it that they were cheating the people?

I searched and came up with a site that describes the location and activities as a place of robbers, a place to conceal loot, a place for thieves. I did not see anything about overturning their tables because they were making a living.

Matthew 21:13 "It is written," he said to them, "'My house will be called a house of prayer,' but you are making it 'a den of robbers.'"

I agree that he was stating his beliefs as a born again christian.

If i ever ran across an enemy warrior who thought he was bulletproof because of his God... i'd probably chuckle as I put his theory to the test.

The essential lesson was that the Temple of God should be used STRICTLY for the glorification of God and nothing else.

That's ok, but don't be saying things like that publicly while at the same time representing the U.S. government. We don't need people out killing people in the name of the U.S. government and saying that they are doing it for God.

he didn't say he was killing in the name of God...didn't even come close to saying it.
