2011, when the board i considered home started becoming more and more of a right wing echo chamber. i figured it was time to find a non-echo chamber that wasn't a partisan purity contest. found this place, and have dug it ever since.

I joined in 2005. Surprised how many are still here... (I know it says 2007 but my original account was 2005 and stopped working so the mods let me create a new one)
 
tail end of 2012. I wanted to find an online place to debate and some combination of search terms in google led me here. There hasn't much real debate but it is enjoyable and I've learned much and changed my position on a couple of issues.

I am kinda impressed at those of you that have hung around so long. I wonder if I'll still be around in another 3 or 4 years. Probably. I mean, the last four years flew by lightening quick.

I took several long breaks though... two that were around 6 months and one that was around 8-9 months. A lot of mini-breaks of weeks to a month. Helps the sanity... :)

I joined in 2005. I mostly lurk now, but do pop up occasionally (if that's not obvious) to make a post or two.

Looking at this list and seeing how many good posters should be here but aren't...

I haven't seen someone earlier than Mr. Danarhea. According to his profile he joined 8/27/2005.

I joined 1/21/2013. This place is by far the most calm and diverse group of political people. Other sites are littered with activists and libertarian trolls not to mention the two extremes DU (Democratic Underground) and CC (Conservative Cave). They are have the worst political tunnel vision and I think a lot of our member base would be just as if not more happy belonging to one of those two forums. I've stuck around for two years and plan to for many years to come.

A little from column A, a little from column B. Also, just to clarify there's no such thing as "wrongly" banned in a private forum. Every ban is done for whatever reason the owner wants and "right" or "wrong" is subjective to the members.

Yeah I know what you mean. Recently it's been pretty quiet but partisan. There are sometimes when it's not and sometimes when it is. Maybe the recent full moon has its effects. I haven't been here long enough for anybody to have died, at least I'm not aware of any.

Well, one of my very few e-friends here passed away a few years ago. His username was Cherokee. He wasn't always level headed but he was a straight shooter.
 
May '09, but I've been lurking around as a guest for a year or two before it.
