That's funny.....seems Halperin helps put it into the Right perspective. Imagine that!

Candidate explicitly touts support among “white Americans” in interview with USA Today. Highlights news story showing “how whites in both states who had not completed college were supporting me.”

Adds: “There’s a pattern emerging here.” Read more of her comments. .....snip~

So you needed to find some one else's opinion to tell you what she said? That is so sad and pathetic. Here is a trick: listen to the video and hear what she actually says. I know, why would you want to do that and have to think for yourself. Such a bother...

Re: Is the Obama Presidency proof that the U.S. is not ready for a black President?

Like I pointed out, even Hillary tried to do it MMC. Why do you think that is? It is because it resonates with quite a few people in this country. A lot of people experienced buyers remorse with Bush. I haven't looked at a poll, but the fact that Obama got elected, despite being black, shows the level of discontent with Dubya and his policies. That WMD crap with Iraq was way worse than anything BO peep did.

Well, we do know what the totals for the Black Vote was, and I wasn't trying to say that there weren't any that voted for him just because he was black. All have acceptance of their own race in one way or others.

Lets not forget Bush Junior is also at fault for creating the waste of Space and Money.....DHS.

Nah, I just needed to show where you actually stand with knowing things about politics, and why you have trouble figuring things out.

So I am good with your proper place with all what you don't know.....as ALL on the Right now should be!!!!!

The poster was not stealing an opinion, MMC was citing it.

Personally, I think your post is nothing but a hateful personal attack.

Re: Is the Obama Presidency proof that the U.S. is not ready for a black President?

I didn't misrepresent anything. She is clearly playing to race. NO DOUBT ABOUT IT!!

Yeah she was.....and even most of the MS media picked up on it. Not to mention anyone who is anyone.....in Politics.

I wouldn't worry about those looking to play with terminology, myself.

Re: Is the Obama Presidency proof that the U.S. is not ready for a black President?

It has been said repeatedly by some over the years that the United States is not ready for a black President. Is the Obama Presidency proof of this?

Not in the least. If anything I'd suggest his election is a pretty clear indication they are "ready", since they elected one.

The mentality and treatment of Obama is not significantly different than what I remember seeing towards Bush. It's only, at most, a symptom of magnitude which is largely a symptom of societal advancements with regards to technology and the realities those impart than anything regarding race.

Debate Politics is a great example of this. The early versions of this forum weren't even in the heart of the Bush era, but there was still a staunch segment of crazies and hateful spiteful people that he could do no right with. The difference was that message boards weren't nearly as heavily visited as they are today and there wasn't nearly as many people across all age spectrums using the internet in such a fashion. That has significant changed now and it causes a very different atmosphere and presentation. But I don't think those people just didn't exist before, but rather simply didn't have the same outlets or the ability to be so loud with so many voices coming together.

The reality is that it's not race, it's politics. There's not a doubt in my mind that if Obama was a white guy from Kansas named Barry O'bannon that much of the same vitriol, negativity, and opposition would be occuring. Would some of the methods be different? Absolutely. Because once it's determined you want to tear the guy down...and that is determined, generally, because "He's of the opposite political party"....people generally go for the lowest hanging fruit.

It's "stole an election". It's "coke head". It's "monkey". It's "idiot". It's "cowboy". It's "daddy's war". It's "fascist". It's "nazi". It's "Talibornagin".

It's "not a citizen". It's "muslim". It's "doesn't like white people". It's "elitist". It's "socialist". It's "communist". It's "teleprompter". And on and on.

People, as a group, are generally simple tribal creatures. Identify the enemy, and then attack the enemy in the most expediant and simple ways possible. Not because any of those ways necessary actually bother you, but rather because they're the "enemy".

If Barack Obama was a Republican instead of a Democrat the vast majority of the critics of him today would have no issue with him and would likely actually be supporting him. That's a pretty good indicatoin that their issue isn't his RACE, but rather his political affiliation. There would be a small segment of the population that would still have an issue with him because they are real and true racists, but that part of the population is a small minority.

No, the Obama presidency is not proof that America is not "ready" for a black President. If anything, his election is proof that it is.

Wait, so having to find some one who shares your inaccurate description of something is a good thing, and it shows that I don't know about politics? That is really painfully stupid....

No theres no waiting....it shows that your thought was completely useless and you didn't have a clue as to what you were talking about. That's why you are on the small end and in with the minority of those that don't know whats up.

Re: Is the Obama Presidency proof that the U.S. is not ready for a black President?

That was a good post. I hope you are right about the black president stuff. Honestly, I don't share your optimism.

I hope I am as well. If I am wrong, then we will see another round of social cohesion decline. Which is happening anyway for other economic and sociological reasons, but would be far worse if we add in new rounds of prejudices acting like we are still in the 1960s.

Re: Is the Obama Presidency proof that the U.S. is not ready for a black President?

If Obama could walk on water, the political right would say "he can't swim." Why? I look at this this way, Obama is also called "Bush II" or sometimes "Bush Lite." He's more conservative than Bush and had implicitly adopted many Bush policies. Still, the political right hates him. I can only come to one conclusion as to why; Race.

This is the kind of crap-filled pie of lies and projections that is doing great damage tot his country. Pres. Obama is FAR from being conservative and is very liberal - that's the simple truth. He's made so many gross mistakes and broken so many promises that I can't believe that the left isn't pissed off at him far more than it is. The guy took cronyism to new heights, after running on a platform of ending that kind of crap. Yet you still love and adore him. The problem isn't that the right will complain that he can't swim, it's that the left sees him claiming to be lifeguard while he's throwing people in the pool who can't swim and never saying a word about it. His appointments to critical positions have been horrible. His ability to work wit Congress (even when it was so strongly Dem.) is a flat out "F". Yet the left will cheer him on like none of this happens and then claim that when we on the right point out these shortcomings that we're the racist ones. The fact is the left has given Pres. Obama a free pass because he's black and that's where the racism comes in.

Re: Is the Obama Presidency proof that the U.S. is not ready for a black President?

Come on MMC. Of course BO peep (LMAO) has done his share of damage. But you can't ignore that his opponents have tried to use the issue of his race against him.

When?? Show me a comment by a Rep. congresscritter that used Pres. Obama's race against him. Show me comment by a Rep. governor that used his race against him.

Re: Is the Obama Presidency proof that the U.S. is not ready for a black President?

At first glance, you would think a lot of the unreasonableness could be attributed to race. However, the longer I spend on this board, I realize the unreasonableness is really geared at anyone left of right. Centrists, independents, liberals, socialists... as far as many on the right are concerned, these people are all liars, who are unpatriotic, and are envious of other classes.

It's a wildly uneducated opinion, but it is what it is.

*Edit: I am sure race plays some part in it. The people who were protesting school integration are the ones running the country now, and their children are my peers, so there are bound to be a ton of ignorant, racist ****s out there. They are just too cowardly to come out and say it these days.

Re: Is the Obama Presidency proof that the U.S. is not ready for a black President?

I think it is a fair question. The right and even the left have tried to exploit the issue of Obama's race in a negative fashion.

There are certain problems for a minority President, especially in a country with a strong issue with pc. But none of those problems is anywhere near, I would have thought, to the size problem an otherwise poor President creates.

Truth is a subjective concept, something that can be accepted or rejected according to a persons beliefs. I reject your image of truth....pure and simple.

It is proof that even an idiot, with the right PR and sales pitch, can be and do anything in America. America, great land of possibilities.

Re: Is the Obama Presidency proof that the U.S. is not ready for a black President?

No Obama isn't proof that we are not ready for a black President. I do think race got to his head a little bit. For instance:

The Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown cases. Obama took the side of a vicious attempted cop killer, rather than supporting the brave officer who had to fight him off (Mike Brown case). Can't make this sh*$ up.

Anyway, I think cases like that Obama should have not played the race card (which he did INdirectly). Also, him associating with Al Sharpton in ANY way is like a white President associating with the KKK. He needs to cut that out.

But other than these issues Obama brought on himself, his skin color is irrelevant to actual policies. I think a black President would be more progressive than a white President, which a lot of people would want. I don't really care, myself. I really just base my vote on the resume.

For instance, I will not be voting for an elitist, lying, 1%er with offshore bank accounts- Hillary Clinton. Her horrible Sec. of State bid sealed that deal. But she might win soley because of the voters who want a WOMAN in the White House. Not someone qualified.

Anyways, my point being, I think Obama was certainly voted in because of race rather than resume. Heck, he barely had a political career. IS THERE ANYTHING WRONG WITH THAT THOUGH? No, I think it's okay to try something new and take a chance. However, this time it failed us.

That doesn't mean we can't have another black president though
I would vote for Allen West or Condi Rice in a heartbeat, as would 99% of conservatives (especially if it was Condi).

What defines truth is that it ISN'T subjective. If it's subjective, then it's an opinion and not truth.

Actually, I think the only reason is the "D." If he were an "R" they'd be falling all over themselves to praise him.

I don't particularly like Obama. I didn't vote for him in the last election (voted for Jill Stein - Green Party) Among other things, he's a liar and corporate tool. However, the reasons I dislike Obama are diametric to why the political right (GOP, TP, religious extremists, etc) dislikes him for. I am not loyal to the duopoly.

Don't let that part about you being in with the very, very, very, few.....pump up any thought of letting that ego speak.
