I ca see Castro as a strong candidate. Especially if the GOP can begin to appeal to the minorities.

Oh yeah...

The name "Castro" on the ticket is an excellent idea!

Can we hear some of the rap progressives have laid on about that "Mexican" Ted Cruz.

That is a ticket I would LOVE. I could make money writing about that, dateline Havana.

"The commies are coming!"......Clinton/Castro for 2016!

Man I love American politics...

Lurch is having fun trying to appear relevant in Europe - usually, he needs Teresa to introduce him around, but now he gets to hob knob on his own.

"Lurch" :lamo

Lurch is trying to appear relevant to himself.

If ever there was a politician who exuded incompetence and stupidity, he is it. How anyone can have confidence in this guy is beyond me. He does not even appear to actually understand the words he reads off the teleprompter, and living proof the Democratic Party gene pool has tanked

I'm not saying it is right, or that I support it, but it is simply what makes sense.

Despite my lack of empathy with the Democratic Party and its politics, I still find myself captivated by the 2016 race. As we can all agree, the GOP is a cluster**** and the Democratic Nomination may as well go to Hillary Clinton right now. With that in mind, I have been thinking, in terms of political moves, who makes the best VP for Hillary in a Presidential run?

Note: I include Bill Clinton because he technically can have two more years in the WH, if for some reason he was called upon to serve longer, his VP would simply step up and take the reigns.

One of the Castro Brothers. Gotta secure that Hispanic vote.

Unlike the Camelot over at the Republican Party.

Actually Republicans are looking pretty good right now for talent. Rubio is probably the best communicator of either party likely to run, Walker and Jindal have the best records, and in the second tier Christie, Bush, and Paul have all demonstrated an ability to reach out and connect solidly with voters. Hard for a voter to connect with Clinton.Inc

It makes no sense whatsoever.

For 60 years the United States has lived in so much abject fear of a tiny island of 11 million people as to maintain an illegal military base and impose illegal sanctions on a people who have never attacked the US...in fact have been attacked several times.

For 60 years one administration after another has kept the name "Castro" in hated disrepute, a name synonimous in the US with Idi Amin, Saddam Hussein and Mohamar Khadafi.,

Considering how gutter driven has become American politics, especially since Obama, I would say any idiot can make the Clintons out to be terrorist loving communists.

A Castro a heart beat away from the presidency! I love it

I won't have time then.
I'll be too busy reading about President Bush's plans for his Inaugural Address and first 100 days in office.

The USA has already had all of the Bush's in the White House that it will ever have.

Wait and see.

I have more faith in the intelligence of the American people - if the race comes down to Bush/Clinton, I'm quite confident the American people will make the "right" choice this time.

Wendy Davis? Not in a million years, for a lot of reasons.

IMO part of it will depend on how Hillary will position herself. Will she be a moderate Midwesterner who once supported Goldwater? Will she be a moderate Arkansasian (what is the right term for them anyway?)? Will she be a liberal Northeasterner? I think once that's hammered out, that will help the committee who will recommend potential running mates.

I don't think she will pick Biden no matter which way she goes. I can see her picking a moderate Hispanic man from the south or west if she decides to be a Liberal New Yorker. Or I could see her pick a Bernie Sanders type if she's looking to be a moderate from the Midwest or the South.

If she choses one of them (which is possible), and her opponent is Jeb, the Hispanics will feel like wishbones very quickly with the way they will be vying for the votes.

I wonder who is going after the boring old white person vote?

Well, in 2008, Obama was half-black, and McCain had a black daughter. Who picked up the black vote?

I wonder who is going after the boring old white person vote?

They won't. Look for them to run heavy Castro across the purple areas they think Hispanics can swing. It probably won't even be unusual for low-information Hispanics to think he is the Presidential Candidate.

You seem to be stuck in the 1960's.

They will, and that choice won't be Bush.

Wait and see. 2016 is right around the corner.

The GOP's base is old white men.

That's a shrinking demographic, btw.

I wonder if the blacks will come out in droves in support of Hillary the way they did Obama?

I agree with your point about the black daughter versus the man who had a black father (sperm donor actually). It didn't help McCain. I guess it wasn't "historic" enough for people. Not enough hope and change and all that.

Bill, because that would be hilarious

I wonder if the blacks will come out in droves in support of Hillary the way they did Obama?

Nope. They deeply wanted to support the first black president, but the past 6 years have been awful for African Americans. And Hillary is a rich old white woman. Besides, the Democrat Party has pretty much decided that they don't need to worry about blacks, they need to prioritize Hispanics (even at the expense of blacks), so there may be a lot of unspoken assumptive support for not prioritizing them as a GOTV effort.

I agree with your point about the black daughter versus the man who had a black father (sperm donor actually). It didn't help McCain. I guess it wasn't "historic" enough for people. Not enough hope and change and all that.

True enough. A campaign which should stand for all time as a clear ending to the notion that voters care about platforms, rather than slogans.

Huh. More millennials voted for the GOP in 2014 than voted Democrat. Isn't that interesting.....

I wonder how the GOP managed to pick up both houses of congress with such a small portion of the populace?

No America is.,

Thanks for the insult though, how very typically Democrat.

Bye

Gotta say, never voted for a Democrat in my life, and I have no intention on doing so. As for me "insulting" you, t was not intended that way, simply an observation of your policy.

Greetings, tres borrochos! :2wave:

Personally I don't think they will show up in any greater numbers than ever did, but Obama was unique because of his race and they were proud! I wonder if they had any problems getting registered to vote like some seem to have today, though? If so, "we shall overcome" must have carried the day!

that's it...

Just keep spewing inaccurate memes and bull**** in the hopes there are more "stupid voters" coming every day to believe it.

If you have something besides cartoons, blogs, or pictures that demonstrates that the GOP is ONLY old white men, supply it or shut the **** up.

You can't and we already know that.

By gerrymandering all over the USA.

The GOP is run by old white men. That's a fact and I won't be shutting up anytime soon.
