My vote is no, of course not. This is the responsibility of the parent/guardian or computer owner, not the government.
Since computers are in our homes and adults must own the utility for internet its thier responsibility. This seems like passing the buck to me.
Same with TV etc. If theres something you dont want your kids to see, dont let them, block it, only allow them to use the PC in a public room, get parent software etc etc

No, No, and Hell NO! Everytime the gov't regulates something it sticks another
siphon straw in my wallet. As you said, it is the home owner/family responsibility,
end of story.
 
It's all pointless these days either way.



smartphones, ipads, near-everyone has a laptop, any kid can and will just use a friends phone or computer making any and all censure efforts meaningless either way


It all comes down to upbringing. Truth is, not everyone is going to have a good family. Reality is a rough slope for most to grasp. Which is why the vast majority of our species goes nowhere near it. The truth is too cold, too harsh, too "real". People need fantasy at near every turn.

I dont know, thats a good question, if theres any here youll have to ask a poster that wants regulation. A discussion i was having elsewhere would hit adults as well and that was a credit card. Of course that has TWO holes in it. One a lot of people dont want to give CC info of course and two it could still just be a kid with access to a CC.

One, any regulation that could actually succeed in preventing online porn from reaching minors would have to affect adults as well. Second, I never like laws and regulations that are created out of the authority of moralization, which is religiously derived more often than not. Such regulation wouldn't work, solves nothing, removes individual liberties, and addresses problems that are arbitrarily defined from person to person. It would be in all respects just a terrible law. If that isn't clear enough, imagine if our internet use were regulated by the MPAA. *Shudder*

i dont disagree at all, i do think it would be a complete waste of time and money to regulate it in this manor and a risk to freedom/rights in general that is not worth it.
