Only if it comes out that he holds these kinds of views and makes a habit of speaking for extremist racist groups.
But when looking at this incident only, no, he should not have to step down. Making a mistake should not immediately lead to stepping down from your position.

Curious, too. President Obama hung around with terrorists. Still became president. So someone spoke to a group over a decade ago - some people don't like the group - so he should resign? That's nonsense. Pure partisanship hypocrisy.

My thoughts on the matter always come back to the same thing. If Republicans want to avoid looking like the party of old white guys then they should avoid talking to groups that hope the party is about old white guys. It is not about crime, it is not about freedoms. It comes down to perception of the party who as of recent does not handle well what that perception is.

Funny you should mention that, Republicans do not want to be told they are doing it wrong. Hence how quickly the Growth and Opprotunity Plan was squashed by most of the right wing blow hards.

But even if he knew it was a white supremacist group he spoke to I wouldn't have a problem with that. They were still voters and, I think, his constituents. So if he just discussed his policies with those douche bags I am fine with that. If he actually gave a racist speech, that is a different story altogether.

As to the question, do you mean step down from GOP leadership? In that case, maybe, since he is probably hurting them. Step down from his office? No. Thats soley up to the people in his district. Even if Scalise is a full on KKK clan leader, those people are citizens and have a right to representation if they want it.
