 That's awesome. I'd like to get that old bastard talking. He's gotta have some pretty good stories.
LOL, you know the wrong group of liberals. Throw up a cards against humanity game or go out to the club, and trust me, most will loosen up and be tons of fun.
Often I find it when people are uptight, its not that they are uptight but guarded. That can be for whatever reason, but if you find it a theme among liberals, you may wish to observe you present yourself.
The funny thing is, among my friends, who almost all self-identify as liberal, as they've gotten older, their actual positions are mostly conservative, not liberal at all. But since the question is about how they self-identify and not about what they actually believe...
This is sooo true^^ My sister in-law who 15yrs ago and fresh out of college was as liberal as they get. Marriage and 2 kids later, um not so much anymore. What's really amusing is my father in-law who is a FLAMING liberal has 3 daughters, and they all married men who are RW..:lamo
In Australia few people know what is left and what is right. or what a conservative or liberal is. It makes it more difficult for them because our conservative party is called The Liberal Party. Which actually does make sense if you look into it.
In Australia rich people vote for the conservative party ( Liberals ) and poor people vote for liberals ( Labor ).
To me it is absurd that WWE fans in America vote for the richer Republican party. That seems pretty stupid. But then again, Democrats hardly appeal to the working class in US do they? They focus on minorities for the most part. And do-gooders. American politics is strange as hell to me.
edit- wouldnt it be easier for one party to be for the working class and the other for the business class? thats normally how it works if you look around the world.
edit- See the conservative Liberal Party is for owners. The 'liberal' Labor Party is for workers... Wouldnt that make more sense?
LKOLOLOLOL great story.
And my Father in law is a great guy! And there are times he tries to bait me into talking politics but I refuse to bite. I look at it this way, no good can come from it, we disagree so why create friction when we get along just fine. I would rather have drama free family gatherings then to discuss politics.
I was being sarcastic. It was a story and that was it. No one cares if you know 3 people who were dumb when they were kids and then became conservatives. Most liberals aren't just having a fling with the ideology.
I ****ing understand it and have a good reason for believing the things I believe, and you don't get to demean my ideology and act like I just "need to grow up".

All you've done is prove everything I've posted about as being true. Like I said, if someone is going to get "bent out of shape" chances are they are liberal. If found anything I posted as being demeaning, you might want to knock that chip off your shoulder, and start enjoying life.. Good luck
There's a reason the saying goes "If you're not a liberal when you're 25, you have no heart. If you're not a conservative by the time you're 35, you have no brain." Yes, liberals need to grow up.

This question applies to all the adults who you’ve actually met, seen, interacted with, and who live within approximately 50 miles of you.
They can be family members, friends, co-workers, fellow students, club members, whoever. The only other requirement is that both of you have to know each other by name.
Now imagine that you asked each of these people, individually and privately, the following question: “How would you describe yourself politically?”
What percentage of them would say something like “liberal” or “mostly liberal?”
If I count only the Navy town I'm in, significantly less than half. But if I include everyone within 50 miles, that would include Seattle, which would make the percentage much higher.
Where did I say I knew 3 people who were "dumb when they were kids" ?? I said my father in law has 3 girls who married RW men. Dude take a chill pill!
You're entire ideology is that when people mature, they move away from being liberal. It's asinine.
I see you're the type of person who equates an old, dumb saying as truth. Here are some more old sayings (I guess by the time you finish reading this you'll be a ****ing genius):
Humorous Sayings | Wise Old Sayings
A clean house is a sign of a misspent life. - unknown
A deaf husband and a blind wife are always a happy couple. - John Florio (1553-1625)
Cheer up! Remember the less you have, the more there is to get. - unknown
Honestly though, the fact that you guys believe that cracks me up.
Not everyone, remember. Just everyone you know personally.

Some people don't like the idea that when they grow up, they'll realize that all the things they believe are nonsense?
Dude, I'm the chillest guy you know. I don't care if you want to believe that liberalism is an affliction of the young, but I'm just going to keep laughing every time you do.

First off, I don't know you, secondly there are plenty of old liberals. And where exactly did I say it's an affliction of the young??
You seem to have got up on the wrong side of the bed this morning?
The membership around here doesn't seem to lend much support to Churchill's theory:

Everyone's different I suppose. For instance, I found myself only being more educated as I got older.:mrgreen:What's funny is in my early 20s I also considered myself a liberal Democrat. But once you are willing to think these things through to their end results, and be honest with yourself?? For me anyways I ended up on the right.
Are you being serious? You said it was soooooooooooooooooooooooooo true that "as they've gotten older, their actual positions are mostly conservative, not liberal at all."
