Hell no. It's just like paying for public schools when your kids all go to private school.

I should get that back too.

Re: The NYPD has essentially stopped writing traffic and parking tickets. Arrests for

Would I be able to get my tax money back? I'd consider it. And I'm not a protestor.
Easy enough...just vote to have the police force in your area unfunded and disbanded. Problem solved.

I am pushing for regionalization, let's start there, each town in jersey doesn't need an over paid police chief and four more collecting pensions.

Re: The NYPD has essentially stopped writing traffic and parking tickets. Arrests for

No, I don't support the NYPD in this matter. They are saying that if we don't let them kill people, they will kill NYC's cash cow, parking and traffic tickets. I think the Mayor should claim it has caused a cash shortfall and lay off about 25% of the NYPD due to lack of funds. You have to fight fire with fire.
Lay off 25% and the habits of the other 75% will still not change.

If there are no cops I expect those who were chanting that they should be killed will be the first to suffer.

Re: The NYPD has essentially stopped writing traffic and parking tickets. Arrests for

Oh I would be quite serious and agree completely. Anyone that protests 'the cops' should be on their own. That includes the mayor and Al Sharpton with his bogus death threat claims.
Maybe Sharpton and Di Blagio can volunteer to police the streets.

Re: The NYPD has essentially stopped writing traffic and parking tickets. Arrests for

I wonder what would happen if law abiding, pro-police people held their own march down MLK Blvd., protesting black violence/crime?

Naw.....

Nothing bad would happen. Black people are not generally criminals nor are they generally unruly.

I hear you. Theres probably a lot of restructuring that could be done at town, city, state, and federal levels.

I live in an unincorporated are between two cities. We dont have a local police force. If law enforcement is needed we get county response, but really..its seldom needed.

Yep...and not just the lame ass driving around with an armed escort and entourage but in the real real world, 24/7, deep dark nights.

Re: The NYPD has essentially stopped writing traffic and parking tickets. Arrests for

Most New Yorkers live in the burbs, or the outer boroughs... Manhattan is full of people not from the NYC talking about how new york they are.

The outer boroughs - Richmond (Staten Island), Queens, Kings (Brooklyn), and the The Bronx are part of the city and not the burbs. I grew up in Queens in an attached two family house - think "King of Queens" if you've ever seen the show - that doesn't look anything like the single family homes on half acre lots where I live now. I used to get po'ed at people who though NYC was just Manhattan. Relatively few people actually live in Manhattan - too expensive. Brooklyn and Queens combined probably have 2/3rd or more of the population.

It was Black people who killed the two cops in NYC and another two in Florida.

Maybe White people should go marching through Black communities chanting, "What do we want? Dead Blacks! When do we want them? Now!" and "White Lives Matter".

Perhaps this puts the ignorance of these protesters into some perspective.

Brooklyn is being over run with the same. and yes, I made a distinction between "outer bouroughs" and the "burbs".

I grew up in loisiada.

It was individuals who did those things. I could post a litany of crimes committed by people of all different ethnicities and political affiliations and it would prove nothing about the typical members of those groups. The fact is, a pro-police protest was held in a major American city and nothing bad happened as a result.

Nothing you've posted refutes anything I've said. There's plenty of "ignorance" to go around, if you ask me.

And it was individual cops as well. But that didn't prevent the more stupid among us to chant that they wanted dead cops.

Yes, but it is the protesters who are lumping all cops together, wanting them killed, and holding up signs saying only that "Black Lives Matter". It is these people you should complain to. And I doubt any crimes would result from a pro-police rally.

Re: The NYPD has essentially stopped writing traffic and parking tickets. Arrests for

I think De Blasio, Al Sharpton and Obama should handle the security at Time's Square New Years celebration, and give the NYPD a break.

Re: The NYPD has essentially stopped writing traffic and parking tickets. Arrests for

The NYPD has essentially stopped writing traffic and parking tickets. Arrests for more serious offenses have dropped by 2/3rds.

NYPD traffic tickets and summonses for minor offenses have dropped off by a staggering 94 percent following the execution of two cops — as officers feel betrayed by the mayor and fear for their safety, The Post has learned.

So long as they enforce violent crime laws, they should go for it. If we can reduce tickets by 66%, we can probably significantly reduce the size of police forces. Fewer laws and budgets for all!

The vast majority of protesters don't want to see cops killed and have openly said so. I have a problem with police officer who abuse their authority and people who call for the execution of cops. Those are not incompatible stances.

Are you old enough to remember when NYC's image to the rest of the country was that of a crime spree wasteland? Travelers avoided the place and those who couldn't were advised that they would probably be mugged at least once in their stay.

How do you think they came back from that? By enforcing ALL their laws. Again, know how they find a ton of violent felons with active warrants? Traffic stop and stop for minor violations. Funny thing about most criminals, their criminal behavior isn't limited to felonies.

No they're not, or at least they needn't be. As with most things, it's all in how you get there.

Re: The NYPD has essentially stopped writing traffic and parking tickets. Arrests for

I am not sure why any liberals would support this. For example, while FDR was supportive of public sector unions, he did not believe that public employees should ever strike and this is certainly a form of that.

Brooklyn and Queens are 58% of the population of New York City, Manhattan has about 19%.

Fair statement, I guess. I find it frustrating though that polemics cloud the core issues at the heart of the protests, as I believe they're incredibly important.

Re: The NYPD has essentially stopped writing traffic and parking tickets. Arrests for

So basically, the cops have stopped wasting everyone's time with petty bull****.

I agree they really should shut down city government and let people live as they want to. The people of NYC don't need any laws or government telling them what they may and may not do. They can take care of themselves just fine.

As long as they build a tall wall lined with machines gunners to keep them in there happily living their lives I'm fine with that.

And I don't. The incidents they are protesting are poor examples of police misconduct. That is to say they either weren't misconduct at all or the system for addressing misconduct worked as it should.

Traffic lights, stop signs, speed limits, and pedestrian crossings are all just a bunch of BS. Eliminate all that, eliminate those laws, and lay-off all those police. Close those courts. People don't need to be told how to drive. Lower taxes. Problem solved.
