That is true but it does not change the fact that he was born.

This will be utterly wasted on the likes of you..but, others will watch this and understand.

Hitchens supported going into Iraq, does this mean you are gtg on Iraq?

Doesn't matter. Hitler liked carrots, if you like carrots you are not a nazi.

No one could adequately debate him, because he was prepared, witty, erudite, and devastating in his rebuttals.

If he were still alive...his thoughts would probably change...he was man enough to change an opinion if he was given more solid facts upon which to base a decision.

So? Not the focus of this thread. Yeah, Hitch supported going to Iraq. You know what? He also agreed to be waterboarded, and challenged that ***** Sean Hannity to do the same. Sean promised he would, of course...he didn't.

BTW, the Festivus pole goes up tomorrow, and I start airing my grievances.

Just seems convenient.

You are the one who brought up religion in general with a meme, this was about Christmas.

Not relevant to the thread topic.

As relevant as the Iraq war.

I thought, seeing as the man in your avatar is the one who signed into law the legalization of abortion in the largest state in the county, which resulted in millions of abortions...

According to several atheists in this thread, it is not.

It is a holiday with its roots in many religions prior to christianity. Of course, it is basically winter solstice and saturnalia.

Which is why Festivus is so hilarious, and how it has garnered so many adherents that know it is pure fictional jest.

But as there is not evidence that this is the person out of the bible, it does not mean a whole lot to me that is. I am only talking about me personally, not about other people, like you who have the faith that he is. And I respect that faith but I am not going to then agree to some son of god assignation to someone that may or may not have been born at that time. For all we know this is a totally different jesus.

"Lefties hate christmas?" :lamo

wow talk about a failed call out thread . . .anyway . . thats funny.

Im not a righty or a lefty so i can't answer the also failed poll but I love christmas . . .LOOOOOVE CHRISTMAS.

I also agree with Ben in many ways but not 100%

All my life CHristmas, the holiday, as always been about love, peace, giving and family.

Any religious meanings around it are personal(which my family does do) and they haven't been dominate at any time in my life. CHristmas is much bigger than that in reality and always has been in my lifetime. While the holiday coincides with religion it hasnt been solely about religion anytime in recent past. Same goes for Easter & Halloween, they are all just as religious as thanksgiving . . . not very much at all . . unless people choose that in thier personal lives. Do they have religious ties? of course but the secular part is very much reality and clearly larger part current times and the recent past

So...you post a video that preaches inclusiveness (sort of).

Yet once again your list of options in the poll excludes all who are not cons or libs.

Bizarre.

The question that ought to be asked is why does anyone care about what Ben Stein thinks?

No one hates Christmas, its just that most people don't feel as though their rights have been violated when they get a card in the mail that says Season's Greetings rather than Merry Christmas. If there ever was an example of how the social conservatives can be total babies its the supposed "War on Christmas".

One would think those who are offended by two innocuous words like "Merry Christmas" are the total babies...

No one is offended by Merry Christmas. However there are some people that seem to be offended anytime someone uses any other holiday greeting but Merry Christmas.

Well, I'm not too sure Saturnalias has that big of a resurgence yet and Hanukkah doesn't usually have a fixed date -- perhaps it is a stubborn insistence on correctness rather than political correctness that makes some people go goo goo ga ga?
