Could Elizabeth Warren Win The General Election For President?

When have we had a liberal law professor? Wilson did not teach law.

Obama was merely a lecturer but I believe that is the reference

Given that she starts with 240-260 electoral votes in the bank, it doesn't take much help.... especially if the Cons put up a "tough on immigration" candidate, then its cake walk.

That was one of my main concerns. Any rational review of modern politics suggests it is beyond easy for Democrats to bait Republicans into talking about social matters. Libertarians, Independents and other social moderates are in play.

But to your point, the current political climate on Immigration puts Republicans in a condition of alienating a large and still increasing voting demographic in this nation. That card can be played at any time.

Do you mean President Obama isn't really black? He's nothing more than a Al Jolson? ;)

I didn't know that Al Jolson was President. Obama is only half black. Anyone with a half a brain would not claim him for any race.

I like how it's baiting to get the people who want power over the whole country to talk about the things they want to do with that power. You could call it baiting if Republicans didn't constantly act on those positions, but they do. Anyone besides bible-thumpers, racists, and misogynists (often all three) SHOULD be turned off by what conservatives have to say on those subjects. They say disgusting things, and then they do disgusting things when they hold elected office.

That's an idiotic statement, I dare say that a good portion of the blacks are of mixed race. President Obama is not half back, he is black. Got it??

How else would you describe what we have all seen in recent times when it comes to political discourse on social matters? It was not a statement of support for those positions, just a realization that when in trouble Democrats have a card they can play at just about anytime. And I descrive it that way as often Republicans walk right into the issue talking from a position of eventual alienation of votes.

I think Warren has a large populist following. If she can entice diehard Democrats
she would have a chance. She will not have Democratic Party support at a National
level until she makes a truce with Wall Street and the Big Banks. If she does that
she loses populist support, A rock and a hard spot, don't ya' know?

Political discourse on social matters? I would describe it as some people, almost all of whom are conservative politically, want to keep people who aren't their ideal race, class, gender, religion, or sexuality as second class citizens, either through force of law or by social ostracizing. If there were not such a loud voice advocating these actions, then it wouldn't be an issue in the discourse. You're putting the cart before the horse. The problem is these horrible views and the incredible harm they cause, not that opponents point out these viewpoints.

You know full well, they will call her a Communist, a Marxist, a Fascist and everything else under the sun.

She certainly could but it would depend mightily on her opponent and what happens between now and election day. I think she is a much weaker candidate than Hillary Clinton.

Wow, does Obama know that his mother was WHITE? Evidently you don't know that. Class over.

Evidently you're not as smart as you think you are. LMMFAO.

I will never understand the upside down thinking of Liberals. One thing for sure is that I am smart enough to know that Obama is half black. Class over once again.

If you can't see he is black, then I think you need to get your eyes checked.:lamo

what nominee of the GOP would have the ability to crush her?
Somebody they would never nominate, because they WILL nominate someone who is as far right as far she is left.

Any one of several. The election would not turn on the Repub's strength but on her unelectability.

i don't agree
my belief is that the electorate will choose the better option of those offered candidates
so, specifically, which potential GOP presidential candidate(s) do you believe could defeat her in the 2016 election

where, as usual, the independents in the middle will effectively be the ones electing the next president

Bush, Christie, Walker, Ryan, Perry, Rubio and Kasich. She might beat Paul.

Don't that beat all. I thought he was half white.

You probably also think that Fauxcahontas Warren is an American Indian.

I think it is very possible. I do not see any Democratic candidate at this time losing any of what I term Democratic trustworthy states, states that have gone to the Democratic presidential nominee in each of the last four years by at least 5 percentage points. So she would start off with 247 electoral votes.

So it comes down to 8 tossup/swing states and who her opponent is. The thing is with all this talk about demographics perhaps bring some red states into the purple category and purple into the blue. It isn't happening that way. The red states are becoming redder and the blue states bluer.

Could?

Of course...almost anyone could win.

Will she is a better question, IMO.

My answer is...she is better then Clinton but is still a very bad choice for America's future...along with Clinton, Bush, Christie and whomever else the Reps/Dems (two sides of the same political coin, IMO) peddle out for the ignorant masses to choose.

I think every one of these people will make a lousy POTUS (though of the four, I think Warren is the most 'decent' human being).

I dislike her for POTUS.

But I have almost complete contempt for Clinton, Bush and Christie. Clinton married her way into contention. Bush was born into contention and Christie blabbed/flatulated his way into contention.

General? Hell yeah, the GOP ticket looks absolutely laughable. So nearly any shmuck the Dems put up will likely come out winning. The primary will be the difficult part, though, as Clinton has all the big banks and corporations right in her back pocket. Warren doesn't have a third of the money and the influence. And, as we've seen, in elections, $$$ = everything.
