Obama the n-word

Have you personally heard (in real life) someone call the President the n-word?

In person I haven't heard it. But it has been years since I have heard a white person refer to a black person by that word. I certainly have people in my extended family who use the term but not around me since going off on them at a family reunion. And I don't hang around people who use it.

So you don't have the link either. To be fair, you didn't make the claim.

Not sure about Limbaugh saying that - we all know what a true patriot he is so I'm not sure he'd wish the economy to fail. All I know is at least one republican said his/her only goal was to make sure Obama was a one-term president (oops). I found this on Limbaugh, but it's not saying he wants the econ

"Limbaugh: I Hope Obama Fails"

Though, I guess you could infer he wants the economy to fail by extension, since he wants Obama to fail on his economy policies.

You have to admit though, it is in the interest of Rush Limbaugh's business model to tell his listeners he hopes Obama fails. When honestly that business model of telling a decreasing demographic to be increasingly angry at the actions of the opposition is really what Limbaugh needs.

No, I think this thread is searching for more than a few people calling Obama a nigger. There's more to it than that. Personally, I see racebait all over it.

One thing's for damned sure, it won't end well.

Why's that? Because of the subject? The discourse has been mostly civil so far.

I think due to being more of a fact-based thread (you have or haven't), it could keep the thread on track without much trolling or baiting.

A race thread? About Obama? And the n-word? Yeah, what could possibly go wrong?

It was an obvious mischaracterization of what Rush said. Why try to spin it? If Rush is evil incarnate, there shouldn't be any need to make up stuff about him that's not true.

I didn't make up anything about Rush Limbaugh.

Stay on topic, X Factor. It's not that hard.

I'm not the one who manufactured a reason to invoke Rush Limbaugh. Go admonish that person.

I'm glad you think that. Great to hear.

Anyway, to be honest, I am surprised at the # of people who haven't heard it. Maybe it is just because I live in a southeastern state, but it just seems commonplace here.
How odd. I lived in central Alabama when Obama was first elected and never heard anyone refer to him using that word. Maybe it's the people you choose to be around.

Possibly - one of the times I've heard it came from a friend of mine. I know a couple of my friends here have some issues with race, and I generally don't talk politics with them because they are conservative and I am liberal. It doesn't usually work out.

But, you know, even with people I don't know it can occur. It's when a normal conversation turns weird, because everyone leans in real close, and someone starts whispering some **** no one wants to hear.

No I haven't..but I've heard a lot of black people call it each other..

With the "uh" ending and pronunciation?

Or with the traditional and apparently 1000X more offensive "er" ending and pronunciation?

White kids trying to be hip call each other "niggah." This is every bit as cool as their throwing cool wannabe-gangsta hand signs.

What about black kids calling white kids "niggah"?

I get called "niggah" all the time by all of my black friends XD and I'm pretty damn white (75% European origins)!

I find it harmless and so long as it is between friends who cares?

There are situations when we can be formal and there are situations where we can be informal.

...generally don't talk politics with them because they are conservative and I am liberal. ...

I suspect that's the reason a lot of us come to this forum.

What's the point of knowing that?

There's a motive here. Be honest and tell us what it is.

I think this is just intended to be a platform for people to claim that every single one of their conservative friends, family, and/or acquaintances use or have used the word with great regularity.

Why can't you just take it at face value?

Please feel free to share the experiences as well.

Mine are:

1) Jokes about killing him when he came here for the DNC
2) The n-word from friends and colleagues

No I have not heard anyone call the president a nigger. A friend of my mine did tell me a joke about Hallmark is coming out with an Barrack Obama christmas ornament.

I think I can imagine the punchline.

The only "n" word my friends, family or co-workers have ever used to describe Barack Obama in my presence is "nitwit".

Never heard the slur directed at him.
The only joke about him that I heard
was regarding his lying.

That wasn't a joke.

Sounds like you travel in diverse circles.

Three whites, one hispanic and two blacks I know have used "nigger" to describe Obama. The hispanic guy is half Filipino so maybe I should list him as Asian
