Here's what I support :

1. An application process for those already here to have legal status.

2. Every job from dishwasher to CEO goes through everify.

3. Crushing fines for businuses which skirt the rules.

4. A simplified process to become a citizen.

The draw is much more than that-better lives, including superior education, healthcare, welfare, etc.

None of that changes the FACT that its not a green light to come here illegally.

Actually, my friend just tried to do this. It was much more complicated than that unless you have a half million dollars to invest. He was deported in July. He has an MBA which he earned in the states.

I'd be fine with everything except #1, if you have demonstrably skirted this nations laws to come here, you get a free ride to southern mexico and then you are on your own.

When you reward this bad behavior with what you suggest in #1, you will get more of it. You have created an incentive to sneak over-thats no good.

We won't deport everyone. It's just not going to happen. The way we prevent this from happening again is crushing fines for those who benefit from illegal labor.

You're absolutely wrong and your friend's case is not at all a necessary skill. We already have many MBAs on tap. Now if he were here on a J1 and graduating medical school or completing his residency, I can tell you with authority he'd have met with success.

Deporting him was a real loss. I hope to live to see an immigration system less like the one we have and more like Ellis Island.

More silliness. Its already illegal to hire them, but that is only part of the solution, and a wide open border, with the reward of amnesty isn't going to stop anything.

Ive been a Paramedic in the Coachella valley for the last decade, of course it does and I know this better than whatever you have read in New Yorker magazine. And they travel freely.
A secure border would help there.

It's illegal, but the fines are not crushing, and the laws are largely unenforced. Run every job through everify.

Obama is not enforcing laws already in place either for his own political purposes.

Whats the point of another law (e verify) if its opponents will not enforce the law as they see fit? This is the hell we get when libs try to open pandoras box.

Running every job through everify is a way to enforce the law and make it unprofitable for employers to hire undocumented workers. Are you against that?
 
Interesting poll results up till now, it seems its just the lefties that are fine with the POTUS telling us what our rights are. How did they ever get the authoritarian label?

I live in CA, we already tried it, there are plenty of ways around it, and since many illegals work under the table its not going to work anyway.
Nothing you can think of has not been tried.

You'd be fine with illegal immigration, I am not.
