George W Bush Versus Al Gore

How did you vote in the 2000 Presidential Election?

  • I can't remember. That was 14 years ago.

    Votes: 0 0.0%

  • Total voters

W. Who could possibly think manbearpig was a viable vhoice ?

I voted for W. in both of his races.

If I had to do it again I'd do the same thing.

I voted for Obama in 2008 and Gary Johnson in 2012.

I'd vote the same way in those elections, too, if I got a do-over.

I don't think any of them (Bush, Gore, Kerry, Obama, McCain, Romney, Johnson) were strong candidates but I think I picked the lesser of the evils in every case.

I have never been a fan of Gore, but I can't imagine how on earth his presidency could have been worse than Bush's. By any measure, President Bush had the most failed presidency in generations. You would have to go back to at least Herbert Hoover to find a president with a worse economic record and I don't know how far back you would have to go to find one with a more disastrous foreign policy.

That said, I am pretty sure Al Gore would have been a one term president. He is just so damn unlikable.

The nice thing about this country is that we're free to vote for the person we think is the best person for the job. I don't see this as a problem.

The problem would be the earlier statement. Bush was an unparalleled disaster. Everyone should regret their vote.

That's the point, just look at the raw numbers. Bush came into office with budget surpluses and left us with a massive deficit. He came into office following the greatest period of peace and prosperity in U.S. history and left us with the worst economic recession and financial crisis since the Great Depression. His decision to go into Iraq was probably the single worst foreign policy decision in U.S. history and virtually every problem we are dealing with in the Middle East (resurgent Iran, ISIS, Syria, Arab Spring) all has resulted from it. That doesn't even get into the scandals. My favorite of those was when officials with his Department of Interior was caught engaging in drug fueled orgies with oil industry lobbyists.

As I said, therein lies the crux of the problem .

And as I said, you're free to regret your vote. I don't consider you regretting your vote to be a problem. I do consider you finding an issue with me not regretting my vote to be a problem. It's quite frankly none of your business.

There are many others in this thread who said they voted for Bush. Perhaps one of them would like to debate their voting choice with you. I don't care to.

Gore made a big mistake by running away from President Clinton. Do you know that if they recounted the whole state of Florida as the Florida Supreme Court had ruled, Gore would have eked out a victory?

To quote a DP regular, that's a great story, Pete.

Bush. I was young and stupid. :)

Yes. And therein lies the problem. An utter lack of introspection from many Bush voters. Its not about you...its about tens of millions like you.
