I made another poll late last year. http://www.debatepolitics.com/polls/181089-2016-republican-primary.html

This time, with some candidates not running, and some new big names running, I'm making another poll. This time I'm adding multiple choice. Feel free to vote for as little or many as you'd like.

PLEASE DO NOT ASK ME WHY I DIDN'T ADD SO & SO. I MEAN YOU CAN SAY WHAT YOU WANT, BUT I'M GONNA ANSWER NOW. THESE ARE MY PERSONAL GUESSES - NOT NECESSARILY ENDORSEMENTS - JUST WHO I'M GUESSING IS MOST LIKELY TO RUN, AND OF THE 10 BIGGEST NAMES AND MOST LIKELY TO BE THE TOP 10 CANDIDATES. I COULD BE RIGHT, I COULD BE WRONG. SO WHILE YOU CAN REPLY WITH WHAT YOU WANT, I DO WANT TO MAKE THIS POLL LESS ABOUT WHO YOU THINK WILL RUN OR NOT RUN, AND MORE ABOUT WHICH CANDIDATES YOU LIKE OR DON'T LIKE, AND WHY.

Let's have fun with this discussion!

Oh Gordon Bennett!!!

Can we not have a moment's peace without more nauseating election talk to elect people that will - GUARANTEED - leave America worse then when then they took office.

When will people learn...almost every federal politician is absolutely HORRIBLE at their job. 95+% of them (imo) should NEVER be trusted. They are either too stupid or too corrupt or both.

If I had to pick one, it would be Paul...but he is clearly just a poor imitation of his father. But a bad Ron Paul is better then the rest of that mostly pathetic lot.

Almost every federal politician is a virtual scumbag...they should NEVER be trusted. They are either too stupid or too corrupt or both.

This is a poll and not a debate about whether this should be discussed. Thought I made that clear in my post. And I do feel this sort of thing is important to discuss. While I agree we can't rely 100% on the government for our happiness. Being a federal politician doesn't automatically make one corrupt. Just vote smartly.

Anyway, if you don't want to participate in this poll that's your choice, but don't sabotage my poll please. Make a new thread in the appropriate section and PM me a link to it and I'll reply.

I will post whatever I wish as long as the mods let me.

You don't like it, don't read it.

Good day.

Good day.

You're free to say what you want, but I have made it clear I did not make this thread to be a debate about something else, and made it so I can discuss the candidates running. So please show that respect. I don't want to have to delete and repost this.

Bush, Christie and Walker are the three that would fair best in the general and would merit consideration from me. Paul and Cruz are the sweethearts of the Tea Party/populist sympathizers so I expect a lengthy fun from either or both in 2016, but with ultimately (and hopefully) little success. The rest of the candidates have precisely no chance in the primaries, with the bottom two being jokes for all practical purposes.

How will you be able to delete this?

I'll vote for Rand Paul if he gets the nomination, otherwise I'll vote Libertarian again.

How will you be able to delete this?

It's cute because he thinks he has mod powers. Nevermind the fact that he thinks he'd be punishing us by deleting his own thread.

I got a question: why didn't you add Romney?

How many times has some one said that 2 years before election, then ran? Alot.

This is true and I'm not saying he won't change his mind. But, as of now, he does not have his hat in the ring. So it makes no sense to include him in polls.

But he probably has a better chance than the rest.

Also, please stop messing with my joke....

I would never catch myself voting for any of the above. However, if I had to choose the least terrible candidate, I'd probably shoot for Rand Paul. He definitely has his problems but he generally seems to be a bit more reasonable on the issues important to me than the rest on that list. Looks like he's in favor of some sort of amnesty, he doesn't want to bomb countries left and right, he's *ok* on civil liberties (though he seems to be selling himself out on that as the election gets closer), he's against the war on drugs, etc.

Ted Cruz is a total nutjob. Christie is an authoritarian idiot. Jeb Bush...we don't need another Bush in office. Bobby Jindal same as Cruz. Ben Carson has next to no experience and has made his political career thus far only on trashing Obama at some dinner and talking about how bad Obamacare is. Rick Santorum is an absolute theocrat. Rick Perry is a criminal. Scott Walker/John Bolton I don't know enough about them.

What a sorry list. There isn't a name on that list that stands a realistic chance. Sarah Palin would beat all of them. The GOP's best shot is running Romney again.

I'm not American and can't vote in America, but if things remain as they look now, the one candidate from any party will get my sympathy who has the harshest, iron-proof hardline course towards Russia, by default.

If I were American, I'd probably prefer the Democrats, as IMO they have better domestic policy ideas. But since I'm not living in America, I focus on foreign policy. And I'll root for the one candidate who is determined breaking Russia's economic neck and seriously brings the goal of regime change there on the table -- while at the same time being determined to support America's NATO allies in Europe, to save our whiny, sorry asses once again. No matter if Dem or Rep.

So I can't cast a vote in this poll until I know their stances on Russia better. This is not the time for the slightest bit of appeasement.

That logic doesn't work in national elections. But to be fair I have seen it work on some state levels. 1976, 1996, 2008, 2012 all nominated GOP Moderates. 1980, 1984, 2000, 2004, nominated a conservative that people thought couldn't win a general election but they did.

Jeb Bush & Chris Christie are bad for America. They support Common Core and won't inspire the conservative base of the GOP to get out and vote. Scott Walker is popular now but he is weak on NSA spying.

Ted Cruz and Rand Paul are the 2 that can best inspire their bases, so I absolutely REFUSE to believe they can't win. America can't be so stupid and evil to want a bad politician like Hillary over good men like Cruz and/or Paul. Especially when we have so much time to stop that train from hitting us because we see it coming from miles away. Liberalism is bad for America. The media lies, because people cannot stand the evil woman Hillary. Cruz and Paul are doing everything in their power to save America.

That person you just answered was just trolling. If you saw the original post you'd see I answered the questions of the stupid people before they could ask the stupid questions, so it makes them look all the more stupider for asking a question I already answered.

Yes, often. But Mitt Romney isn't taking the steps necessary to build a campaign team like he had done before.

But he probably has a better chance than the rest.

Anyone GOP be electable in 2016.

Did you not see the results of 2014? And Maryland! Who thought the Republican would win the Maryland Gubernatorial Election?! Even though the last poll had him ahead though.

If you're in Germany then you of all people should know how bad the Democratic Party is on every single issue. Their policies have never been proven to work - and the only 2 recent examples I could think who had more success in their Presidencies were John Kennedy and Bill Clinton, but both were more centrist in their views. The conservative wing of the Republican Party has been right on every single issue for the most part.

The Republicans are an anti-freedom party of big, excessive government and the Bush presidency was a failure of epic proportions on all levels. No other President was such a threat to basic civil and human rights as Bush, and thanks to him, the Middle East is a total mess now and we have to deal with ISIS. Cleaning up Bush's mess will take decades.

The Democrats at least are spot on on many general ideas, although the execution is lacking and they got not much through due to extremist-uncompromising Republican obstruction. IMO.

I agree with the Americans who say the Dems have moved from the left into the center (Obama is a center-right politician) and the Reps have moved into an insane asylum (thanks to Tea Party and so on).

nice nonsense. we get the fact that you think your hero would fare best against Palin. Palin's history

You are wrong about mostly everything you just said.

Moderate/Liberal Republicans don't count. Tea Party Republicans favor small government.

Don't bring Bush into this. We got attacked, there was a War. They recently found out there were WMD's. It requires a lot of grand strategic planning to win a war.

Obama to the right? No offense that's the most foolish thing anyone has ever said.

Regulating a woman's right to choose, establishing religion in the government, expanding wars worldwide. There's a very obvious disconnect between what Teaparty Republicans, claim and what they do.

We were not attacked by Iraq. There were no WMD's. War does require "grand strategic planning" and the war in Iraq had none.

I have already answered this because I knew people were gonna ask this, even if I answered the question. I wish people would actually read the post first.

But I'll answer anyway. I've made a few previous polls, one for Presidents, one for Vice Presidents - a few choices I already noticed didn't get a lot of votes, maybe like 1 or 2, so I was less likely to add them. So I'm adding a few choices I didn't add before.

But let's please focus more on the candidates I did add. You could also make a poll of your own with the candidates you think will run or be the top 10 candidates.
