Assuming you believe that life has any purpose, what would it be? (Check all that apply, in your opinion.)

Be happy, gain more power, improve yourself and reproduce.

to Serve God and Serve Others.

My purpose in life is based on the fact that I believe I have been blessed, despite myself. I give thanks to this fact by providing for my family and community in ways that I feel can have the greatest impact on those who are deserving.

Do no harm. Spread knowledge of the impact of humans on their environment. Leave it like you found it.

If there is a purpose of life, we're incapable of knowing it, and don't have the free will to address it even if we did.

How does one know that one is serving the "correct" God, though?

There isn't a "correct God", there is only "God" and while all of us fail to serve Him "correctly" some of us serve Him "less correctly" than others.

Unfortunately, the world is full of people who say things like "You can't serve God even close to 'correctly' unless you follow [the Baptist Church/the Catholic Church/Judaism/Islam/whatever]." I know of no solution to this age-old dilemma.

There is no inherent purpose in life, everyone decides what purpose they wish to pursue.

You are providing an overly-simplistic (and generally false) trope. There are plenty of people who do say things like that (witness: Islamic State), but the world is not "full" of them.

I think each of us elect our own purpose.

As applies to me, I chose create beauty, improve yourself physically and mentally, and make other people happier.

That's the context in which I see myself, but it takes all kinds.

I do not think 10 options can cover all the meaningful purposes that one may generate for their lives.

I chose beauty, because it is the closest thing to my answer.

The meaning of life... is to create meaning.... to make things matter. The beauty in all things.

There is neither a "correct God" nor a "God." If it existed there should have been actual empirical evidence. Serving inexistent concepts may do damage on its own.

However many there are, it doesn't affect the fact that the dilemma still exists.

Sure. So does the dilemma that some people are born into siamese-twin situations where the continuation of both lives threatens each.

There is no inherent purpose in life, everyone decides what purpose they wish to pursue.

If that's true, it would seem reasonable that most people would be happy with their choice of purpose, or they'd simply choose another. That being the case, does it follow that the ultimate purpose of this choice is for the individual to be happy?

Just some food for thought.

But since lots of people go through life miserable, often of their own free will, apparently it isn't that simple.

Philosophically, it's to live, love and laugh leaving the world a slighter better place for having been here.

There is no higher purpose to life (outside of biological laws of evolution). Whether your life ultimately has purpose or not is up to you. You must give your life purpose otherwise your life will simply be one of billions that spans a few decades and ultimately has little impact. So do something that leaves the world at least a little better for someone and your life will have purpose to it.
