Fox News Poll: Voters reveal which state they want kicked out of the union

Revolutions need money to get off the ground.

If you had enough money to support another revolution, would you really spend it for that purpose? Or would you spend it on your own personal "freedom?"

To be sure, the cause of liberty is long-since lost... trying to speak reason to the machine and the citizens that support it would be akin to a German citizen circa 1936 telling everyone to leave that Jewish family alone - the people have checked out and given themselves over to groupthink.

As for what you are using as an example - our Founding Fathers did just that. Most of them were very wealthy, and put their wealth, honor, and lives on the line for principle. They could just as easily said, "... I'm rich, can live a life of ease - screw the little guy", but they didn't do that... they risked it all. And to be sure some of them lost all their wealth, some of them lost their lives, but they did not lose their honor.

Americans are so weak-kneed and lacking in education, perspective, and honor today that there is no hope that liberty will be seen again in our lifetime. Hopefully some future generation of Americans can rise up and restore freedom, but I know I won't be alive to see it.

If the vast majority of the population wanted liberty I could see myself supporting a revolution, but at this point in time they very much want the opposite. It just seems like every generation wants to control their fellow americans more and desire nothing more than to get more and more from government. I don't see the end of that trend any time soon.

A country not committed to the freedom of all men is trash. Those not committed to the cause of freedom are enemies and should be seen as such.

And what about these states being listed are operating against "freedom?"

I don't get to use the term "Jeremiad" too often, so your posts are refreshing in that they present such rich opportunities.

I'll take that as an "I'll spend the money on myself instead of on a revolution."

California.... both the state and the country would be better off if they separated and we simply engaged in amiable trade with them

as an american citizen that was born and raised in the state of california, i find the thought of the state separating from the united states unthinkable

Sounds like a great idea in a time of national debt to kick out would would then become the tenth largest economy in the world....

massive federal govt contracts would dry up ( California leads the nation is massive aerospace contracts)... they would drop on the list further than the #10 spot.

Just wanted to point out something interesting in this chart

16 of the 20 states that depend on the government the most are RED states

well if you would like to, we could let the blue states keep more of their money, but take away much of their represention in the house.

something i have stated many times, CA has 53 people in the house, while the state of WY only has 1, mississippi 4, alabama 7 while CA pays more they have the advantage of numbers in government.

it's not going to happen.... it's just a hypothetical.

I lived in Cali for many years.... but that was a long time ago, when it was much much better.

bigger population = more people required to represent the population.

besides the senate balances out that problem

the Senate is supposed to balance out that problem.... it no longer does.

Senators no longer represent the States (17th amendment) ... or the people of those states....

they only represent political parties.

I could live quite well without Texas.

and i am supposed to believe that the state legislatures are bastions of political integrity?

California has the same population and somewhat smaller GDP than Canada.

Please kick her out. They will immediately vote to join Canada, who will then kick out all the illegals and their families, bring in universal health care, and likely shut down wind farms, as one or two of our hydro generators will do the job. We will, of course, take everyone's guns away and replace them with the sheet music for Kumbaya.

We will then send in fifth columns to Oregon, Washington, and Alaska. Once successful, Canada will have complete control of shipping off the West Coast save the relatively undeveloped west coast of Mexico, and we will control 90% of the resources of the continent. We will also have complete sovereignty of the North and will have increased the population by two and a bit, doubled the economy, taken control of the world's softwood and high tech industries along with having control of every Asian built auto shipped into North America. We will also have added two more NHL teams and complete control of the motion picture industry.

They will have universal medical care, really, really fabulous drinking water and really, really cool colored money made out of plastic that does not fold, fade or even decompose.

We will be gentle.

Please hurry this up, I look forward to sun tanning in San Diego without having to have crossed a border.

Yea what could go wrong looses 13.5% of the US GDP?!?!? ****ing Califronia and all those damn illegals!

And more people on welfare and food stamps then the rest of the states combined.

and what do you have to back up your claim? statistics?

if you tried saying this on a school research paper you would probably receive a bad score for failing to cite your sources.

Having 49 states would totally render me and Adrian Monk catatonic_

who said you are supposed to believe that?

i would rather put my faith in a system where i get to vote for the politician i want to be my states senator then a system where politicians get to select the person the state is sending to washington.
