Is America more of 50 country's with a confederate leadership or one country with a strong central government?

You consistently see states disagreeing and making laws and decisions contradictory to each other and state vs. government campaigns (usually in the form of politicians dissing each other or in contradictory decisions and laws). We seem to be more together out of necessity and tradition than in strong, united sentiment. And even in that togetherness we do have, we only ever seem to be loosely affiliated with each other.

Thoughts?

I think that's whiny crap. I hope the next thought is better.

In my opinion, of all the things that can be said about Democracies, one observation seems to hold true:

Liberty is inversely proportional to population

That is, the more you have of one, the less you have of the other. The answer to your question can, in part, be found within that principle.

The states are united by the constitution but they do they have their own autonomy within that framework. For instance, the states can't change or ignore a federal law but they can strengthen it with state law or they can leave it as is.

United as one, a single nation.

Any sort of confederacy died when the constitution was created and any lingering stomped out with the civil war.

Seems like a silly question at best.

I would have bashed the hell out of this guy and got an infraction, that's how bad the question is. But since he is new I'll let it slide.
