It has long been my opinion that Islam is in it's own version of "middle ages", and the only reason they get the 'respect' they do is oil. If they have no oil, they get much less attention. If there were no oil at all, we'd ignore them just as we ignore most of places like Africa and South America.
 
Well, considering we are discussing them and it is the 21'st century then the answer is obviously 'yes'.

The thing is there is oil, and as of now we are still dependent on it. I'd like nothing more than to pretend the ME does not exist-but they do.
