They were married a few years ago and are already divorced.

I Never ever saw that coming!

Pfffftttttttt.... who am I kidding? :lamo:lol::rofl

I assume it's legal wherever they are.

And I assume they are both sane and consenting.

So I have little problem with it and it is none of my business.

Yes, she is a little young to be getting married but I have known a lot of 16-17 year old's that were more street wise and tough then most 30 year olds...so it depends on the person.
And she does not look like an innocent babe in the woods.

Yeah it's creepy...but if they both get what they want from it, it's okay by me.

Besides, with a U.S. divorce rate near 40% (or higher)...who are most people to talk about who should marry who.

BTW...if the guy thinks he looks cool having a 16 year old for a wife, he is delusional. When will all men learn that if the looks/age difference is too great, it just looks stupid.
If she was early thirties and hot, that might look okay. But 16? Come on man...everyone knows she is either an idiot or in it for the money.
And every time you have sex, she is thinking of her last young, attractive boy/girlfriend.

How do you know this for a fact?

Fill us in.

I think there should be no restrictions on the marriage decisions of legal adults. That being said, 16 is not a legal adult and this guy belongs in prison.
It's OK they both look older than than are. ;)

She looks 30 and he looks 60.

That's the chance an older partner takes. The bloom can wear off the rose.

Apparently as I recall, her mother was all for this union. He's an actor, a B actor, but in Hollywood nonetheless, and Mommy and the blushing bride saw him as her ticket to the big time.

Sixteen's damned well old enough to make decisions about your own life, and the most basic "family value" is that adults get to choose whom to marry.

They could have done a lot worse. ;)

Age of consent laws in some states is 16 and a minor can be married by parental consent. Nothing illegal, but it goes along with what I've been saying that we need an age that adulthood happens for everything. If that is 16, 18, or 21 it needs to be consistant IMO.

Personally I think large age-gap marriages have serious issues due to generational gaps and usually they don't last very long.

Should marriages between people where the age gap is 20+ years be banned because you find it icky?

.

Your facetiousness is pretty transparent.

Of course they should not be banned. That's a pretty silly question.

It is disturbing that she is/was 16, but legally she is old enough in at least some states. I'd say that they probably should have waited a few years at least.

Now, that being said, I highly doubt the relationship could really be a mature relationship, at least at this time. She is simply too young and he is already showing he'd rather have a trophy wife than a mature (mentally, not necessarily in age) wife in a mature relationship.

It is a pretty good assumption that this is not a healthy relationship (although I'm not saying that this should really make it illegal either, particularly when they are adults). You rarely, if ever, see a mature man with an ugly, homely or even average looking younger woman (with this huge age gap of more than a decade) unless it is some religious thing where there are multiple wives.

That's a pretty stupid reason to ban something.

Btw, this thread is a pretty obvious troll thread.

I have found that guys who have relationships with older women are looking for a mother figure in their lives. Women who date older guys as a whole are looking for a father figure to support them financially. Generally the guys I have known who date older women have been stable and with good money and earnings. I found that not the case with the women with older guys.

Again that is just my experience so YMMV.

Yes but it's because women were -- and still are -- second class citizens.

Hush woman, know your place! Stand behind my prize winning puddle! Your father sold you for 3 goats and 10 rats.. so know your value!

That's ridiculous.

Now go get me a beer and a sandwich.

To which she responded, "okay honey - just as soon as I get home from work!"

Greetings, Lutherf. :2wave:
