I was the first person from my high school to get a perfect score at a math meet. I know how to read a simple graph. Did you even look at the numbers on the left? That's the vertical portion of the graph.
Of course you do! That's why you could not tell whether the difference was outside of the margin of error......or that the very liberal mean was @ 3.95!

Tell me, I bet you consider yourself part of your 1%, don't you?

It is not a matter of debate:

The more interested in politics a conservative is, the lower his (or her) level of empathy. Liberals move in the opposite direction: the more interested in politics they are, the more empathetic. Empathy, in case you’re wondering, is measured by responses to 28 statements in the “Davis Interpersonal Reactivity Index,” including “I often have tender, concerned feelings for people less fortunate than me,” “I sometimes find it difficult to see things from the ‘other guy’s’ point of view,” and “Sometimes I don’t feel very sorry for other people when they are having problems.”

I tried to find more details on the data behind that graph, but I was unable to - it appears to be posted on a blog that states it is based on data gathered by said blog, but nowhere do I see a link to said data.

Are you saying that the more a liberal is interested in politics, the more liberal they are? and the same for conservatives? How do you know it isn't the other way around? Maybe people become more moderate when they become more interested in politics.

Even then, it would only be a ~10% difference.
Ok, MORE significant, then.

Still, I tried following links to where that graph came from, and can find no scientific data anywhere. It is possible I missed it, but it appears that the author collected data from some poll on a website and used it to construct that graph. Unsure.

The graph appears to originate in this article, which mentions this site as the source of said data.

But nowhere do I see the data, just more articles on the same general topics of morals in politics and such.

Yeah, I followed the links too.

Are you saying that the more a liberal is interested in politics, the more liberal they are?
Uh...no, I did not say that.

The graph is fairly self explanatory, the more interested a liberal is in politics, the greater the level of empathy. That was also stated in the accompanying note I originally posted.

Gee, you just are trying so hard to distract from your errors, and the attempt is really cute.

I still haven't gotten an answer.....are you part of your 1%?

Where did you get 3.95 from?

There you go, showing those first rate math skills. You still cannot figure out what the "very interested" liberal mean score was.......even after you demanded I pay attention to the vertical scale!

Maybe you should stick to cartoons.

You're changing your story.

Then I asked you if very liberal was the same thing as very interested and you said no.

As I said earlier, the liberals are around 3.8 and the conservatives are around 3.6. BFD

The line graph is a wonderful example of how people use graphs to misrepresent data. The actual points are only around .2 apart, but if you just glance at the chart all you would notice is that there appears to be a huge empathy gap between liberals and conservatives, when in reality there is not.

and we don't even know how scientific the study was

It's hard to find the details.

You can't read a scale!

Amazing!

Please, FFS, stick with cartoons.

Did you somehow miss the blue and green lines? Did you see how they line up with the numbers on the left? Are you aware that the numbers on the left denote levels of empathy?

The graph is pretty cartoonish. The two points are not actually all that far off, but because of how they decided to make it there appears to be huge gulf between them. Sorry, but there really isn't that much difference between the empathy of conservatives and liberals according to the data they were using.

You methodology is totally screwed up, one does not compare an apple (max range of error) to an orange (min rage of error) to get an accurate representation of a difference.

You are missing Nickelodeon reruns.

I looked up that IRI thing:

Personality Survey

Edit: Not entirely sure how that was used to get the data apparently shown in the graph.

A complete inability to relate to those who are less fortunate.

anonymous polls suck

and many of us on the right don't see addicting people to government dependence is actually helping the less fortunate

Evidence suggests no. Conservatives give more to charity than liberals.

and when liberals give-its often to organizations that promote more government control over the economy rather than to entities that actually help people

say turtle have you ever hear of the supreme court case Moorehead v. Tipaldo?

You mean MOREHEAD v. NEW YORK ex del. Tipaldo?

Never heard of it

and what are you trying to do-derail the thread?

Yes, obviously, funny how the Republicans in congress can block UNEMPLOYMENT extensions, but try and fail 56 times to repeal the aca, but dish out corporate welfare and tax breaks for big business...

Thats why i enjoy hearing about Obama and the Democrats using the goons at the IRS as a political weapon, and crippling small business owners with massive hindering regulations, and of pissing off conservatives to the fullest extent, with this immigration, border situation, Obama is as vengeful as hell and that's why im.so.glad i voted for.him2x!!!!

Don't expect to see another Republican in the WH, for a VERY LONG TIME, if ever again, LOL...

Disturbing.... and when there is another republican in the WH and there will be. If they act like this wanna be king I will be the first in line to condemn them. Unlike you I believe our freedoms and liberties know no party lines.
