Moving towards Ukraine and Gaza, pissing on both Russia and ME, may be a far fetched decision. Opening up on such two fronts may be too much at once is what I am saying.

Perotisa, ever get the chance to read James Bradley's "Imperial Cruise." ?

As usual with all of Bradley's books, "Flag of My Father," "Fly boys," he always starts out mentioning the Philippine Insurrection. I don't know why, I think he actually wants to write a book about the war before the revisionist historians accomplish rewriting history. As you noticed the revisionist just a few years ago have already changed the name of the "Philippine Insurrection" to the "Philippine-American War."

But Bradley's "Imperial Cruise" explains how Teddy Roosevelt lit the fuse for war in the Pacific with Japan.

The book start out really weird, American progressives wanting to continue America's "Manifest Destiny." America expanding across the Pacific and our final goal returning to our ancestors motherland in the dark forest of Germany.

Controversial book when first published.

The people of the world are starting to wise up and would not support such a war barring a Hitler/fascist event.

I don't ever remember Democrats being criticized for being in the White House during WW l, WW ll or the Korean War. It was just brought up during election time as an argument if the Cold War went hot, it will likely be when a Democrat is in the White House. It was more heard on the streets not being said so much by politicians.

What do you think would have happened if Germany, Italy and Japan would never had signed the Tripartite Pact and Japan still attacked the Pacific Fleet and Hitler never declared war on America ?

Yeah, I know it's another "what if" questions.

Do you actually remember WWI? I didn't know they had computers at the rest home.

With enough nuclear missiles scattered across the globe to destroy ourselves many times over, we are thus always on the verge of WWIII.

If you're looking for a warning that WWIII is about to finally break out, then, other than the warning that's the mere presence of such destructive power in the hands of any person or group, when that additional warning appears, it will be a short one, a very short one.

Can anyone imagine a couple of dirty nukes exploding in New York or LA....Those cities would be uninhabitable for a thousand years.

My grandfather spent a couple of decades telling me about WW l. He fought during that war. How many WW l vets have you actually known and talked to Rocket ?

I was around when the last Civil War vet died. Does that make you feel young and immature ? Think about it. You're only as old as you feel and only immature when you think you know more than your elders.

Do you know how long you would last on an Indian Rez ? :lamo

You said you "remembered." Which would make you at least 110 to remember and have had political awareness.

BTW, you never said if you thought the opposition to WWII was good or bad. You blamed Democrats, so I guess you didn't like the war. If you did, you'd try to give Reagan credit for it.

When the Cold War was between us and the Soviet Union we did not have to worry about that.

You said that during election cycles in the 60's 70's and 80's it was always pointed out that democrats got us into two world wars. Presumably this was republicans pointing this out as a criticism, no?

You don't get it, you're trying to read between the lines but there are no words there to read.

Should have FDR done a Bush (43) with a regime change in Germany during the early or mid 1930's ?
No way would it have happened since the vast majority of Americans before Dec. 7th 1941 were isolationist and the labor unions and even CPUSA supported Hitler until Comrade Hitler attacked Comrade Stalin in 1941.

In the late 1930's the British had Neville Chamberlain who appeased Hitler, "Peace in our time."

Today America has Barack Obama who appeases dangerous people in the world and has thrown American allies under the bus.

Today it's taught that WW ll began in Europe when Hitler and Stalin invaded Poland. (Revisionist don't like to mention the Soviets invasion from the East)
In reality it began in Asia when Japan invaded Manchuria and China.

It's always been a derogatory label that fails. Americans were opposed to the US getting involved in another European war in the 30's, they were not against all the other ways that we could and should engage with the rest of the world. Essentially a nice way to criticize people who are fed up with war and its price. Again polls indicate that Americans are becoming fed up with war, and again the neo-cons, and warmongers, the hawks will be throwing out the slur along with references to Chamberlain.

Sadly that does not account for rogue countries like North Korea getting a Nuke or giving one to a terrorist group like Hamas....That is who worries me.

You neocons are always fearful. Maybe if you stop supporting policies damaging to so many people's around the world that create enemies for us, we could rest at night in peace.

It is possible,

The MIC MUST be fed, when Americans loose their stomachs for war, as polls would indicate might be the growing tendency, then we can move into the Cold War phase and achieve the same goals without the blood and guts and Americans will pony up just the same.

I think a touch of isolationism is a good thing. But appeasement can become a very slippery slope.

Hmmmmm can you elaborate on that please.
