Watched an interview with a Tea Party "leader" earlier tonight. He kept up bringing up the point that the Tea Party is "against crony capitalism". That got me thinking, isnt the tea party itself a astro turf movement that is funded by crony capitalists such as the Koch Bros. So, Is the Tea Party Funded by "Crony Capitalism"?

Maybe. But so are the dems. The Dems in power for the last 50+ years has been the greatest thing that happened to corporatism.

But I will take crony capitalism over mass stupidity of the Liberals, progressives and other socialist anyday.

Anyone who supports the principles this country was founded on, especially that abolition of aristocracy, and each person earning their place rather than inheriting it, should be strongly in favor of them. Being from a wealthy family yourself, I can see how you prefer aristocracy to American ideals.

Turtle is?

Factually inaccurate
Wealth - Definition and More from the Free Merriam-Webster Dictionary

Taxes are a govt confiscation of money. Money is a material object that has economic utility.

Therefore, taxes are a govt confiscation of wealth.

Does it really matter? Let's face it, as long as both parties to include the tea party receive millions, tens of million of dollars from these huge mega donors, from corporations, wall street firms, from lobbyists, all types of special interests, pacs and super pacs, we have the best government their money can buy.

I suppose it is normal for Republicans to complain about all the money coming from the above to the Democrats and the democrats complaining about all the money from the folks above going to the Republicans. But when each of the major candidates collects and spends over a billion dollars each, that should tell you something.

Isnt corporatism considered crony capitalism?

Isnt corporatism considered crony capitalism?

Corporatism is socialism with the corporation at the center controlling instead of a government like entity that most associate with socialism. While still a vast negative, Corporatism is still preferable to socialism as it takes more time for the society to reach the point of mass oppressive poverty. Also, unlike your form of socialism, Corporatism while leading to technological stagnation does not lead to technological devolution and doesn't rely upon unrealistic expectations of humans acting idealistically.

It depends...the Tea Party that showed up to unseat Eric Cantor was definitely against crony capitalism. Cantor was the poster boy of the astro-turf wing of the Tea Party, he spoke the lingo but was one of the most business friendly representatives on the hill. It costs a lot of money to create a national well represented interest group. There's no doubt that moneyed interests has co-opted the movement to pass "anti-big government" legislation that benefits them. Less EPA standards, deregulation, limits on contributions etc. At the same time...there is a strong "small business" movement in the Tea Party. It's just gotten so tough to separate the two.

Started? No. Taken over by? More likely. I think it was an honest movement at first that was quickly captured by the Repblocrat status quo.

Tea Party people that I have been involved with have always been nothing more than local grassroots efforts of concerned citizens over our out of control spending, violations to the Constitution and ignoring the rule of law. They are strongly against corporatism as it does not allow a fair playing field in the markets.

the biggest being the claim that she is arguing libertarian principles

I oppose the payroll tax as a violation of the tenth amendment

Medicaid, Medicare and SS are all areas congress really has no right to act in

So you oppose the payroll tax but don't want to eliminate the Medicare and SS charges?

how can you possibly read the comment MEDICAID, MEDICRE and SS are all AREAS congress really has NO RIGHT TO ACT IN and then utter the stupidity suggesting I don't want to eliminate them

they never should have been passed in the first place
