Watched an interview with a Tea Party "leader" earlier tonight. He kept up bringing up the point that the Tea Party is "against crony capitalism". That got me thinking, isnt the tea party itself a astro turf movement that is funded by crony capitalists such as the Koch Bros. So, Is the Tea Party Funded by "Crony Capitalism"?

That was pretty obvious when they got all bent out of shape over inheritance taxes that only apply to multi-millionaires. They are pretty constantly in favor of oligarchy and aristocracy. It's un-American.

anyone who supports freedom should oppose "inheritance taxes"

Anyone who supports the principles this country was founded on, especially that abolition of aristocracy, and each person earning their place rather than inheriting it, should be strongly in favor of them. Being from a wealthy family yourself, I can see how you prefer aristocracy to American ideals.

no more or less than any other political party or movement.

that's complete crap. nothing in this country's fabric was based on government grabbing private wealth. and what is hilarious is the high minded facade people like you cloak envy in.

the death tax only hits those who have already paid far far far more income taxes than most americans. Its nothing more than a surcharge on the overtaxed.

do you even realize that the death tax was proposed as a solution to a "problem" that no longer exists and is not part of the proper role of government? the death tax was before 40% or more federal and state income taxes were foisted on the rich

So when it's tea party / republican it's crony capitalism but when it's George Soro's sleeping over at the White House and warren Buffy getting obummer to keep the keystone pipe down so his trains can continue to ship oil it's ok?

Article 1 Section 8. Otherwise known as the taxing and spending clause.

that's not entirely true... Socialist love inheritance taxes because they love freedom

specifically, the freedom to steal other peoples money. ;)

what is fun is watching them whine about how the children of the rich need to make it on their own while they spend the rest of the time addicting the masses to government handouts

There is no proper purpose for the government engaging in intergenerational theft to slake the butt hurt envy of parasites

You clearly don't know much about the constitution with that crack. That citation does not support your claim. you might argue that the government has the power but there is no evidence that the founders intended such nonsense.

well the founders are dead and are in no position to argue their position.

that's a silly response. why should those who pay the most income taxes be the only people saddled with death confiscation taxes?

Didnt the "founders" put that in there? Seems pretty simple they have the power to lay and collect taxes. But wait, I forget only conservatives know the true meaning of the document.

you probably will argue that the purpose of the commerce clause was to allow the government to prevent a guy from growing wheat on his own farm or for banning someone from owning a machine gun

"The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence & general Welfare of the United States"
--Hmm seems pretty simple. Tell me again how "nothing in this country's fabric was based on government grabbing private wealth"...

you seem confused between having the power to do many things and with the claim that the founders wanted that power to be used to slake the envy of losers by soaking the rich with additional taxes that only they have to pay

I like how you completely ignored the question I posed to you as well

do you claim that the death tax was designed to generate revenue or engage in social engineering

are you aware that the death tax is among the most wasteful and inefficient taxes in US history-costing more in avoidance and administration than it raises? I realize socialists are happy anytime anyone more industrious than they are is taxed more but supporting the death tax is pretty much a given sign of envy or pandering to those who are

Which nobody said. Keep attacking that strawman, you'll kill him someday!

Must have touched a nerve, even implying anything about the TP...

You claimed "nothing in this country's fabric was based on government grabbing private wealth". Our fabric is generally agreed to be our Constitution. It does not matter what they wanted the power to be used as, or how it should be used. In fact the power to tax is in our founding document. The Founders gave the federal government the power to tax. You cannot get around that.

so it is your learned opinion-based on your credentials as a constitutional scholar-that the founders wanted a death tax to be imposed?

and do you claim that they included the Commerce clause so congress could regulate a farmer growing wheat on his own property for his own use or for banning machine guns for lawful private citizens

You seem confused and you apparently do not understand the difference between giving the government a power to "tax" with the Desire that the government tax a certain way based on social engineering and imposed on only a small group

so where in the constitution does it mentions social engineering?

Not talking about the specifics. Talking simply how your statement that nothing "in this country's fabric was based on government grabbing private wealth" is simply wrong.
