Is Rick Perry serious choice and would you vote for him

Obama should have been a one termer but that part in bold is important. The GOP probably can't put up a candidate that isn't in right field. If you can't win with a Rhino pretending to be a winger, what chance does a real right winger have? Obama moderates are not going to move that far to the right. Only GOP hope is suppress the vote.

The GOP needs to run someone like Huntsman. He could stomp Hillary. I say that as a Hillary voter, and I am pretty sure the GOP won't move to the center....

Huntsman might be dynamite righteous, so says his supporters, but substance is not what wins Presidential elections...

I've always been one to follow my gut, it hasn't failed me thus far but this is a very informative post, thanks for sharing.

you're welcome. I have been called a numbers guy, I guess it is well deserved. I keep up on all of this because predicting elections has been a hobby of mine for 30 years or more. I also publish a monthly blog on DP about the senate races. If you're interested:

He can get the independent vote.

I agree.

I don't actually like Jeb Bush because of his immigration weakness, that said, he will crush Romnney. Jeb Bush will have the full support of the business community seeing as they're not going to back a twice failed candidate like Romney again. Jeb Bush will also have even better Hispanic support than George Bush had because Jeb Bush will play the "I have mixed race kids" card and Hispanics will eat that up. The "We are white too" Hispanic crowd has been waiting for a Jeb Bush type forever.

The Democrats are definitely not moving to the center with a possible candidate like Hillary Clinton.

And since you already have decided you are a Hillary voter, and you think the GOP will "suppress the vote", then you are not the GOPs target audience.

I am a Hillary voter because I voted for her in the 08 Primary over Obama

And you are right it would take a moderate GOP candidate for me to consider voting for them for POTUS. I just don't see that kind of move by the GOP party...

That's just so ugly and cynical. He doesn't have to play the mixed-race kids card; he can simply let photographs such as yours speak for who he is.

Umm, no, he definitely does not have a (R) next to his name. :2razz:

No, but the attitude of "I'll vote for anybody from this party" is pretty much what got Obama elected in the first place. After 8 years of Bush, a lot of people were ready to vote for anyone with a D.

Yay, the race card!

So, then, you're predicting a GOP win in 2016?

Yes I am. Recent history would bear this out. Outside of Bush I, it's been almost 100 years since the party holding the White House for 8 years was able to hold on.

That is not wholely correct. Fustration with Bush and team McCain-Palin sealed the deal.

Just as my post #114...it depends on what team the GOP runs.

If the GOP has another disasterous primary, and all indication point to that, the GOP has a mountain to climb.

I can see what you are saying, and it is interesting to note that Bush had a mostly hostile media working against him for 8 years, but Obama has had a mostly friendly media working with him, however Obama still is unlikable to about as many people as Bush had toward the end. So Obama has done this completely by himself and that should disturb the Democrats as they go into 2014 and 2016 elections.

He is an awful candidate. His debate skills are non existent and his speech skills are poor. On top of that he has far too many skeletons in his closet to be a serious contender outside Texas. He almost makes Romney look serious and Sarah Palin look intelligent.

Oh man .....LOL !!

You people already elected a Candidate based on oration, platitudes, bumper sticker slogans and because the media told you too basically and look what that got us.

Rick Perry is 100 times more qualified than Obama even after 6 years in the White House and he has a record to back that up.

In the middle of Obama's desperately sick economy Texas is booming economically and offering job opportunities to millions of Americans from States like CALIFORNIA and ILLINOIS and MICHIGAN.

I liked when Texas had a drought and he urged a big public prayer session to end the drought.

And, instead of rain, they got a bunch more drought.

god doesn't like Perry.

No, we " got " a Surplus, ( a real surplus Jerry Brown ) and we " got " a economy " too.

Texas is the end of the road for millions of Californians who have picked up and moved out of that broke Blue plague state.

Took you a few days to come up with such a lame attempt to stand up for Texas?

If enough people want him, he is legitimate.

But that does not make him good for America.

Frankly, every popular candidate from both parties seems worse then useless to me...other then maybe Rand Paul (though, IMO, he is just a watered-down, compromising version of his father...in other words, not nearly as good).

Is he a serious choice and would you vote for him?

I wouldn't vote for him, but he could win the GOP nomination.
He's perceived as soft-on-immigration by the base, but most other contenders are, too.
I think these candidates should just be themselves and let the chips fall where they may.
As I recall, one of Perry's 2012 gaffes involved shutting down unnecessary gov't agencies.
He then forgot which agencies he wanted to close.
His attempt at being something he wasn't---anti-big-gummint---backfired.

If i had my druthers it would be a CHOICE of someone whose last name doesn't start with the letter C or a B.WELL...if the B is preceded by a Joe MIGHT get my vote.:2wave:

Huh ?

Standing up for Texas takes literally no effort at all.

You would have to be willfully ignorant NOT to see the great success that is Texas.

Especially when you contrast it with another Border state with a comparable population.

California.....there's no better example of the failure of lefts politicies on a State level than California.

I mean what possible and legitimate criticism could you level toward Texas ?

The best YOU could do was troll.

My vote."No but boy do I wish ".But not for the reasons the OP had in mind.:2wave:

The choice was worded specifically.
